Woulda coulda shoulda. That Stadium isn't a mobile home, and the Cardinals won't be receiving a new one for another 30 years. Glendale is in a pickle, but it won't last forever. To appeal to businesses looking to move in and around the Westgate corridor in the mid-2000's, Glendale dolled out huge sales-tax breaks. If I am not mistaken, the City won't reap full sales-tax benefit until 2016/17/18.

Compounding this problem is the foreclosure of businesses in Westgate, as well as the overall lack of growth. I don't see this being a problem forever; time will bring the influx and development.

People say west gate will never establish because "look what's around it." The neighborhoods in and around chase field and the Suns arena are no better. I believe the casino will be the best thing to happen to the westgate corridor since westgate.

NFL should pick up the public safety bill. I will disclose I work for Glendale Public Safety, and the hoops we are jumping through to meet security requirements are pretty exaggerated. I think the Mayor is (let's just say I think we could do better), but he does have a point. $2.1 million in stadium security is a huge chunk of our public safety budget, but a chump change for the NFL. We aren't making jack-squat compared to what is MANDATED we throw out. It's BS in my opinion.

....and Glendale was fighting that for years claiming it would be a burden on them. It is most likely going to save their butts. Look at how much as developed around Talking Stick and Wild Horse Pass. Both are on outlying ends of the valley, and both are consistently busy.

Weiers is a penis wrinkle. I hope he winds up watching the game from some dive bar in Goodyear. Michael Bidwill, otoh, is now officially my hero. That interview was epic!

Didn't the Cardinals start building the stadium somewhere in Phoenix and had to stop due to being in the flight of planes? My memory sometimes escapes me but I can remember something like this happened.:D

Yes. It was to the east of Sky Harbor. I remember the first game at SDS after 9-11. A UPS plane flew unusually low over the stadium. EVERBODY just stared in silence as it flew over us.

In a way I hope that the Mayor of Glendale is telling the truth about losing money on the Super Bowl. Because if he isn't or if he's juggling the numbers the people of Glendale have the biggest idiot in creation as their mayor. Property values are in play. And right or wrong, he's going to hurt Arizona's chances of getting another SB. JMO.

I don't know if Glendale will make/lose/break even on the Super Bowl being held there. But, it seems that Michael Bidwill has a bit of the old man in him in being a bit obstinent.

Michael has had an axe to grind with the City of Glendale and has been grinding it for a couple of years. From the outlet mall taking parking to some of the land issues around the stadium the Cardinals and the City of Glendale have been like Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. Good in bed at first and then at each other's throats (no pun intended) later.

One thing that makes Michael look silly, at least to me, is his constant refrain "They told me that they got $13 million in media exposure value", whatever the heck that means. To me, it would be better to say nothing or "He's full of crap." than something that nebulous. I could get "13 million in media exposure value" and still not have a dime in my pocket. Sounds like a lawyer/politician spin to me.

I hope, in time, that the City and Michael can find a peaceful solution to the problem. It makes them both look petty and silly the way they are carping at each other, at least IMO.
