Clutch Encounters Week 3. Scroll down a little bit to get to the Cards review on Arians' aggressiveness. I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that Arians might be doing more with less:

Winning this game just adds to the impressive resume Bruce Arians has built in the last three seasons. Try naming another coach who gets more success out of less talent.

Haven't read this yet, but I'll be getting to it at lunch and provide my thoughts as necessary: Any Give Sunday: Cardinals over 49ers

Damn. Fine.

I think that the writers are right that having Vernon Davis would have transformed the complexion of this game. He's their deep threat, in a way that Rob Housler was supposed to be but that didn't happen. Because Housler can't block anyone, he's going to be off the roster in six months.

What the article made me think was that the 49ers offense right now is essentially what we were running with Fitz, Andre Roberts, and Early Doucet. It's a rich man's version of that offense, but it's the same moving parts. Hard to sustain success when you're basically running a bunch of seven-yard routes.

You know who should've hired Bruce Arians long before us? The Al Davis Raiders. That deep passing game with a power running element is exactly what Al Davis was hoping to build. I guess the timing never really worked out right.

.

I am wondering if you had a chance to watch the film from week 2?

I thought he had some technique issues in the first game and got abused by Freeny on one play in particular but did a good job in week 2.

I've seen enough of Housler that one week of adequate play isn't going to convince me that he can block at an NFL-caliber level, even for a primarily receiving TE.

I've heard something about blind squirrels finding nuts before...

I understand but I think players can improve and I prefer to judge them week to week and play to play. I don't think he is as close to out of the league as others seem to.
Find out when he is up for FA I guess.

Did you see Fitzgerald lined up on the line with his hand in the dirt on Sunday?
Do we have the highest paid TE in the league now?
:)

Davis is definitely a game changer and Cards were fortunate not to have to deal with him.

Funny. Watching the all 22 last year I saw Housler whiff on so many blocks it would send me into a big red rage.

If the Cards cut him tomorrow 2/3rds of the fans who have been defending him will be on here claiming that they always knew he was a bum and is easily replaced and drafting h was another gaff by Whiz who had no clue how to gauge talent.

:D

Well...Housler's got size and speed (and terrible hands), maybe he should be converted to OLB? He knows how to get a QB sacked! :D
