I was listening to the radio, and MJ/Bickley want suggestions for the Cards theme song for this year.

Someone suggested "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" but they thought it was a bit outdated (1979). Also suggested: "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty.

So if you've got any suggestions, go to their website or call it in!

Here's a lil' celebration ditty I made up awhile back...

To the tune from the "the "Wizard of Oz"/ "Wicked witch is dead!"

DING DONG! The HAWKS are DEAD! The HAWKS ARE DEAD!
THE WICKED HAWKS...DING! DONG! THE WICKED HAWKS ARE DEAD!

THEY'RE GONE FROM THE PLAY-OFFS NOW
SING IT HIGH! SING IT LOW!
DING! DONG! THE WICKED HAWKS ARE DEAD!

You just keep inserting "new" teams as they're ousted.

NOW, obviously, this can't be our "team" song BUT I have FUN with this!! :D

The less Tom Petty I have to hear in my life the better... :barf:

Hopefully it could be something the players could actually relate to.

Thats a great choice!

Do you think we're gonna make it?
I don't know unless we try
you could sit here scared to move
or we could take them by surprise
it's submission that they want
it's surrender that they need
when we're doing it their way
their aims will be achieved

They're gonna come when you're not ready
when you're not too well-prepared
they're gonna prey upon your weakness
no man's soul is ever spared
you've got to stand up, yeah, and fight them
show them what it's all about
this man is not for sale
there will be no backing down.

[Chorus:]
Stand up and fight and I'll stand up with you
We shall succeed,
Stand up and fight and I'll stand up with you

My wish in 2009 is that the song isn't "Baby Come Back" being sung to Q, Dansby, Warner, et al.

Of course, I hope it isn't a "Player" song under any other circumstances either. :)

I called in: KISS - War Machine.

Great Song.

LOL - someone called in and suggested REM - It's The End of the World As We Know It.

1st Choice - "Don't Fear the Reaper" (Blue Oyster Cult - complete with logo'd cowbells for the fans).

Consolation Picks -

"Magic Bus" (The Who)

"Bang Bang" (Joe Loco)

"Layla" (Derek & the Dominos - with "Cardinals!" substituted for the word "Layla")
