The Arizona Cardinals have focused their offseason addition on mostly the defensive side of the ball. Their free agent signings were mostly on defense, and it appears the focus continues to be on that for the NFL draft.
They have been busy with predraft meetings with prospects and the vast majority of the ones that have been reported have been with defensive players.
We can add one to the list — Mississippi cornerback Trey Amos.
Amos told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo last week that he had a top-30 visit scheduled with the Cardinals, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Amos is mostly considered a second-round pick but some projections have him creeping into the first round, considering the cornerback being a premium position. He is ranked by NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah as the No. 6 cornerback prospect and No. 42 overall prospect.
Amos was a well-traveled college player, starting at Louisiana for three years, followed by a year with Alabama and finishing last season at Ole Miss. In 2024, he had three interceptions and 13 pass breakups to go along with 50 total tackles, four tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
He is nearly 6-foot-1 and weighed in at 195 pounds at the NFL combine, where he posted a 4.43-second 40.
The Cardinals certainly aren't afraid of drafting cornerbacks. They have used five draft picks in the last two years on them and three picks in the top 90.
He will be a name to watch on Day 2 of the draft when the Cardinals make their second-round selection at No. 47 overall.
