Seven Dbacks players will play for Scottsdale in this year's AFL. Not as many exciting names as in the past couple years, but it should be interesting to watch nonetheless.

P - Matt Elliot
P - Steven Jackson
P - Chris Kinsey
P - Mike Schultz
C - Jamie D'Antona
IF - Mark Reynolds
IF - Danny Richar

No Justin Upton? No Miguel Montero? He hardly got any playing time last year. Mike Schultz again? No Shappi? No Carlos Gonzalez? Not even Chris Carter?

Pooh! I liked D'Antona, and he seems to be doing OK at 1B, and glad to see he didn't quit the game, but...

Not an exciting team contribution to the best baseball in the Valley.

Since when did D'Antona move from 3B to C?... I haven't payed close attention to him but I can't really see him behind the plate.

D'Antona has been playing catcher every couple of games for Tennessee lately.

Just looking at the rosters it looks like a down year for the AFL all around. Not a whole lot of enticing names in comparison to recent years. No Montero or Gonzalez is a disappointment though, the only reason I can come up with is maybe they are already slated to play winter ball in their respective native countries.

D'Antona has played a mix of 1B and C, and as soon as they moved him, his offense went way up. He was always a powerful bat -- slugger-type -- and his injury that first full year threw him totally out of the loop. Late last year he was reportedly considering cashing it in for love and a more sane lifestyle. I will always like him as one of the "Three Amigos" -Conor, Carlos Quentin, and Jaime D'Antona.
