The #22 ranked Sun Devils put their 2-0 record on the line for the first road game of the season, traveling to 2-0 Illinois.

Granted it was only one game. But from what I could tell especially with his deep ball accuracy the kid has NFL written all over him!

The national guys were comparing him to Ryan Mallett, which is just silly. Ryan Mallett it NOT 6-foot-8. Just ask Rod Gilmore.

(Also, Osweiller is at least twice as fast as Mallett, but that has nothing to do with Osweiller being 6-foot-8, so I won't mention it here).

If ASU can clean up their tackling, I'm pretty confident they can win this one.

Too bad his side armed delivery gives him the release point of a guy who is 6-0.

But his height does give him an advantage seeing down field.

^^lol, exactly what I was thinking...Brock has never had a pass deflected at the line of scrimmage, and he has a great release. I don't know about this whole 'side armed delivery' theory, sounds like a horrible observation. I've never heard anyone say that about Brock...

Oz has a short-armed catcher's release that is more under the ear rather than top of the ear. It's not *ideal*, but Dan Marino made a career with the same release at 6-foor-5, so there's no reason to change it. It sacrifices some arm strength in exchange for quicker motion, release, accuracy, and better body balance. His release tends to change (for the worse) throwing swing passes. It does come more 3/4 angle, but you're less worried about it getting tipped. The problem is is footwork is still iffy, and that changed angle creates some anxious moments when he throws it behind a receiver. He seems to have improved on that some.

Compare to Dan Marino, who was Johnny Unitas quick on his release (and is still fun to watch):

Now Vince Young, he has that sidearm motion that's just awful to watch. Definitely affects his accuracy and it should have been changed in college.
