Which probably means that Arians won't be hired by the Cards.

I can just see MB at the press conference. " I want to introduce our new head coach Bruce Arians, by the way we got rid of our DC Ray Horton. I'm sure the fans (and players) will understand the need to make a change to our defense."

Good luck selling that!!!!

I'm 95% sure that was for Chicago. I'm 0% sure that's for Arizona. :D

This is pathetic and makes the Cardinals look, once again, like the laughing stock of the NFL. You hire a coach...LET HIM BUILD HIS OWN STAFF. If you want to keep Horton that much, which I think they should, just give him the damn HC job.

+1.

And to blow up the defense we have now ?

That is just plain stupid. PLAIN STUPID!

For who, for what ? At the chance of turning around an offense that has never EVER done jack squat except the two years under Warner.

If the Cardinals want to invest into the offense, then they have to do something they have not been able to do in 20+ years, and build an effective offensive line, and a get a franchise QB.

You have a defense that can win games by themselves. You have a defense that was able to compete in most games with the offense giving away at least 14 points a game. You have a coach that can motivate players no matter what the circumstance.

Just plain crazy!!!!!!! Absolutely nuts.

Bowles as a DC

Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles hired Bowles as the team's secondary coach on January 30, 2012. The Eagles announced on October 16, 2012 that they dismissed defensive coordinator Juan Castillo from his duties and named Todd Bowles as their new defensive coordinator. Under Bowles, the Eagles finished the season ninth in pass defense (while consistently giving up big plays) and twenty-third in rushing defense. The team sacked the opposing quarterback twenty times less than the 2011 season and generated only thirteen takeaways.[2]

Sounds like a return to normalcy if he is our next DC.

If that turned out to be true and they do hire Arians, I just may boycott my own fandom. Monumuentally dumb.

Both Jacksonville and San Diego retained their DC's, Jacksonville's also interviewed for the HC postion. Retaining a qualified DC doesn't make you a laughingstock.

last time I checked, Jacksonville was pretty much a laughingstock and the Chargers weren't looked as any great shakes either with their ownership group. it's not exactly good company to be keeping.

Cheese, You've got to love the Cardinals anyway, for at least they provide you with consistant material for your show. ") #comedy.

I really like Ray but I understand why if a new HC has his future on the line he might be leery of having the fan favorite DC who was just dragged through the ringer and not awarded the HC job on his staff. What would make this especially troubling if true is that they worked together in Pittsburgh.

Seems to me like it's becoming obvious that Bidwill doesn't respect Horton's greatness as much as many on this board do. Lotta people have been ga-ga over Horton all year. I'm starting to wonder if we, the Cardinal fans, even know what a winner looks like. I'm starting to doubt it--we run the one dude out of town who helped us win--and go apesh*t over a dude with, what, 2 years of coordinator experience. We've no clue what a winning org looks like because we've been Cardinal fans most of our lives.

WOW. And I was excited about the prospect of Arians. As long as we could give Horton enough money/control to keep him happy as DC for life. I don't want that guy going anywhere. He took a D with no direction and built a powerhouse in about one season. The biggest/quickest impact any coach has made here in my memory... well, positive impact

Last time I checked the internet.

Peyton Manning was going to be the Cardinals starting QB who were going to be coached by Andy Reid.

People it's all a bunch of gossip and hearsay. Don't beleive 95% of it.

Sure but in keeping with fan tradition everywhere, make sure you overreact to the 5% you do believe.
