Watch! Horton may be forced to stay aboard in 2013, but if he gets bypassed as the HC (it's pretty clear Michael doesn't want to hire the guy), he's taking his services elsewhere. Wouldn't you? Michael thinks he's going to get the best of both worlds, but he's going about it the wrong way IMO.

Actually I think Bidwill wants to hire him but his choice of OC is getting in the way. He was one of the first to get interviewed not only once but twice.

If he had gone with a proven OC this search would've been over a long time ago.

Cardinals | Bruce Arians the favorite for HC?
Wed, 16 Jan 2013 13:30:44 -0800

It appears that Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is the favorite to be named as the new head coach for the Arizona Cardinals.

Horton is getting screwed, IMNSHO.

Horton screwed himself. I like the guy and think he'll be a good head coach.

However he should have known that to get a good shot at this job he needed to bring a proven OC with him. Bringing in a buddy and saying "trust me" isn't exactly the best way to wow people especially in a situation where the offensive side of the ball is THE reason we're looking for a new HC to begin with

Wasn't the rumor that Horton could get Norv afterward? If so, why hasn't he been named the HC? Hmmmm something's fishy & it smells of Bidwill ineptitude & indecision. Why hasn't Norv signed with another team yet, like what was rumored to the Browns?

Again, if Michael feels Horton is the "best candidate", why not hire him? Trust Ray knows his peeps! IMO I'm trusting the football coach's thought process over the owners! People weren't to excited when Wiz hired some guy named Ray Horton either. ;)

You guys act like the Cards are just loaded with offensive talent & is a juggernaut waiting to happen. There's a reason guys like Reid, McCoy among other offensive coaches didn't want to come here.

Plus, Norv Turner has not officially signed with Cleveland, has he?

He reached out to Norv Turner after we found out that he was the favorite to get the OC job in Cleveland. He waited too long. He tried to bring in a friend first for the job and it may end up costing him his chance at the HC gig.

Now he's in a scramble to get a proven OC because he now knows that it may be the key to him getting the job. He likely thought that he had this job already and his ego may have cost him

I can't blame the Cards for wanting to get a better offensive mind in here when its blatantly obvious to everyone that it is our major weakness.

After the disappointment, would I accept an extension with a hefty raise, that allows me to build my resume: You betcha!

I was under the preconception that Turner was officially the Cleveland OC, but apparently not.

It doesn't surprise me that Horton would be frustrated, but additionally, it's not a huge surprise that he's not the clear candidate. I've been saying it for weeks: it's awfully hard to look like you're starting fresh when you're returning over 50% of your previous staff.

I'd be downright ecstatic if the Cardinals somehow got Arians and kept Horton, but I can see why it might not work. The only other combo that would really do it for me would be Horton-Turner.

You would, a successful proven NFL who's about to be free to sell his services to the highest bidder & good fit wouldn't!

Human nature being what it is, it's understandable if Ray is not happy.

However, he seems to be an intelligent and reflective man who, after the dust settles, you'd hope would decide that "all things happen for a reason" and, if he keeps on doing what he's doing, his time will come.

But it could go the other way. If he doesn't land the gig, we have to hope that Michael and the rest of the Cardinal family handles the situation with not inconsiderable finesse because the dude would have to be hurting.

@RapSheet: The #Cardinals tentatively plan to interview #Colts OC Bruce Arians tomorrow for head coach opening, I'm told. Maybe getting closer...

No I'm not a successful proven NFLer, I am, however, in my own field.

Unless he gets a HC job beyond 2013, he's not likely to make any more than he can garner NOW out of the Cards.

Let's hope he doesn't allow ego to confuse judgment, as evidently you believe he will.

Arians wouldn't name his DC candidate but said he was a capt for him at Temple and smiled. Todd Bowles

And with this..... I just think we hired ourselves another liar.

The Cards hired Arians, not his agent.

Yeah, your right...... I'm sure they never talked during his negotiations to become our next HC.

And him saying today that he didn't want loyalties tested by keeping him around meant he had just thought of getting rid of him after he was hired.

Riiiiggggghhhhhtttt.....

Agents have one goal, to get their clients the most $ so they get the most $. Lying goes with the territory. Stop believing in the Easter Bunny. : < )

Not party to the conversations, but, there is a important distinction between what the client actually says on the public record and that of his mouthpiece, and it's a bit of a leap to then call Arians a liar.
