Since signing a 7 year, $161M extension w/ the #Orioles 3 1/2 years ago, Chris Davis has struck out 35% of the time he gets in the batter’s box, including 0-17 w/ 11 Ks to start 2019. The 33-year-old has $68M remaining on his contract thru 2022.

I laughed when I heard Burns and Gambo say ARZ would be good with Lamb hitting .240 if he was a 30 HR / 80 RBI guy. Davis is a cautionary tale regarding that philosophy, Lamb would have to get nearly 600 at bats to reach those numbers if you look at the two years he put up those numbers and he will be hard pressed to get those numbers this year with his inability to hit LHP and stay on the field. I would expect him to get another contract with ARZ unless they go arbitration until his rookie deal expires.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees placed 1B Greg Bird on the 10-day IL (retroactive to 4/14) with a left plantar fascia tear and selected INF Mike Ford from ⁦‪@swbrailriders‬⁩ and signed him to a Major League contract.

OF Jacoby Ellsbury was also transferred to the 60-day IL.
