The Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Franchy Cordero from the San Diego Padres for reliever Tim Hill, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

Cordero has massive power and has played all three OF positions. Hill has been an effective lefty for the last two years.

In their free time, they (and visiting teams) can enjoy the beauty of Niagara Falls.

But, alas, only from the U.S. side. 'Not as good a view as from the Canadian side,
facing the American Falls. I've stayed on the Canadian side three times over the
years . . . and each time in steady rain. I wonder how many rainouts there'll be
down the road in Buffalo. But, hey, they have good wings.

Star outfielder Mookie Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers are deep into negotiations on a long-term contract, sources tell ESPN. While the language of the deal is not completed, the expectation is that Betts will be signing a massive deal with the Dodgers in the coming days.

The parameters that ⁦‪@LouMerloni‬⁩ first alluded to -- a deal of 10 years -- would be the sort to prompt Betts to forgo free agency. The devil will be in the details -- the money, the structure of payments, how to proceed if fans cannot return in 2021 and other important issues.
