Going for it: The Padres are sending their No. 3, No. 4, No. 6 and No. 29th ranked prospects to the Marlins in the deal. They have now traded 12 of their top 15 prospects in trades this year for Dylan Cease, Luis Arraez and now Scott and Hoenig.

Padres had a pretty good bullpen already they just needed a closer. They’re better than us now because of their late game reliability but it’s hard to judge Hazen on this without knowing what the equivalent package would be.

For the first time in history, MLB has flexible World Series schedule. If the NLCS and ALCS each end by Oct. 19, the World Series will be moved up three days to Oct. 25 to avoid the long layoffs.
