When Tanner Scott’s deal is made official, the Dodgers’ luxury-tax payroll for 2025 will exceed $375 million. That is about $70 million more than the next-highest team, Philadelphia. The Yankees are the only other team with a CBT payroll projected to be over $300 million

Before we anoint them the greatest pitching staff ever, let's look at the number of innings each Dodger pitched last year -

Tyler Glasnow - 134 (9 W)
Roki Sasaki - 111 (10 W)
Blake Snell - 104 (5 W)
Tony Gonsolin - 103 (8 W)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto - 90 (7 W)
Landon Knack - 69 (3 W)
Dustin May - 48 (4 W)
Shohei Ohtani - 0 (0 W)
Total - 659 (46 W)

For a little historical perspective, I give you the 1971 Orioles and their 4 20 game winners -

Mike Cuellar - 292.1 (20 W)
Pat Dobson - 282.1 (20 W)
Jim Palmer - 282 (20 W)
Dave McNally - 224.1 (21 W)
Total - 1081.1 (81 W)

In fact, the Diamondbacks have four starters (Burnes, Pfaadt, Gallen and Nelson) who pitched more innings than any Dodger pither pitched last year.

That was a different era of baseball. That will never happen again. And I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want it too. But that was impressive at the time.

Carlos Estévez’s free agent market is intensifying, following the Tanner Scott and A.J. Minter signings in recent days. The Blue Jays and Cubs — both of whom had interest in Scott — are among several teams pursuing Estévez.
