Speaking Tuesday, Bears GM Ryan Pace said he did not feel a "pressing need" to draft a running back.
"There’s no pressing, huge need," Pace said. "We can honestly pick the best player available." Pace said he was addressing the "narrative" that the Bears must select a runner after trading Jordan Howard. He talked up his backfield, including Mike Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson. It is probably just GMspeak, but Pace could have easily given a more vague answer. If the Bears do come out of draft weekend without a new back, Davis would be in the RB2/3 mix. The Bears have only five selections, two of which are seventh-rounders. Their first pick is No. 87.
