Hmmm! Two series. With Manning that could be two TD's.

SeaChicken said:Do you guys know who you want in this draft? Is there a particular player that you covet with the pick? Bush, Leinart and Ferguson should all be gone by then. But then again, they said Aaron Rodgers was going first overall and we all know how that turned out.
What's up with the league nowadays? How many games do you have to lose to get a decent pick? The year we drafted Marcus Trufant we had gone 7-9 the year before and picked 11th. We would have picked 10th but we lost a coin flip to Baltimore. I'm just saying that it seems like you can darn near finish winless and still be fighting for a top pick. Just kinda weird.
BTW, if it sounds like there is a slam in this post, it's not intended. Just making a genuine observation on draft positioning.
Cardsmasochist said:There is too much emphasis on the first round picks. If we only drafted well in the first round and had busts round 2-7 then we will continue to suck. There are a lot of great football players drafted in the later rounds. Tom Brady and others come to mind. Wasn't Antonio Gates an undrafted Free Agent?

Cardsmasochist said:So we need a good 2nd and 3rd round pick, too. According to your stats, 30% of the pro-bowlers were from the 2nd and 3rd round.
I think we are saying the same thing: Round 1 is important, but so is round 2 and 3.
The bottom line is the Cards need all the talent they can get. I would love to see them get a diamond in the rough and get a great player in the later rounds.

Elton Brown in the 4th last year could turn out to be one of our better steals. LeRon McCoy in the 7th this year might also turn out to be a "diamond in the rough".
Cardsmasochist said:Antonio Smith has played well lately and I'm really excited about McCoy. I hope they continue to improve. Bergen is okay. We still need a TE that can block.
I guess we won't truly know how well the draft was for another year or two.
Here's a triva question I'm sure someone on the board could answer:
Who was the last Pro Bowler (excluding Emmitt) to play for the Cardinals?
I ask this because I yearn for greatness. I want to see a player in the Cardinals uniform that everyone in the country will be talking about. One that is above everyone else. One that we will talk about for years.
