"ASFN Music Club"

I think this could be a pretty fun activity depending on how many people are interested.

The premise is this: You pick a few of your favorite albums (the more unique the better) or mixes that you have in mp3/m4a form and put them up on a gmail account.

I know that there obviously is a slight variation of your suggestion and my idea, however, perhaps both should be explored further....

Due to my life being extremely hectic over the past several months, the music club in its original form never did become a reality....However.. I would love for it to materialize in some manner.... Perhaps it can, but in the interim your brainstorm can be the basic foundation for now.... Maybe would could include a MySpace account specfically dedicated to people to share their favorite albums for those to sample.. or the sharing a gmail account (which has become envouge as of late) could be another possible vehicle.....

I suggested mail because using myspace, gmail, or something like that would require too much coordination and effort, not to mention the fact that those options would require a lot of time spent (there is no comparison between the time it would take to upload 10 albums and the time it would take to burn them to a CD).

Now that I think about it, we might be able to use a gmail account. Threaded emails could should make everything nice and organized. Do you know if google cracks down on strange account activity or not?

We may as well try this and see if it works. I uploaded one album and might upload a few other to get the ball rolling.

Is this for complete albums or can we also include a few songs from a particular band? I dont have many full albums on this computer, but I have a lot of songs.

Do whatever you want. We can have threads for artists or albums.

The only concern w/me at the moment is that we've already used 32% of their allotted bandwidth..... I guess what we can do is occasionally purge some files over there... Perhaps every other week or 2.....

Yeah I noticed that too. We could either purge or move to
[email protected] and so on.

Okay we have five members and 13 albums. I think 15 semi-regular would be nice and allow us to do at minimum album-of-the-week type things.

Maybe people are having troubling realizing this exists because of the misleading thread title or because it's the weekend. If things don't pick up we should start sending spam PM's.

Until we have enough people posting, I am going to bump this thread if I post something new.

I am interested. Always interested in sampling new music and have a lot to share as well.

Can someone post how to add our music to the account? Dang I'm felling dumb right now.
Just click "compose mail" and send an email to the account with attachments. You can only fit around 10-15 MB per email so you have to keep replying to messages you send.

Here's an idea guys

(BTW this is a GREAT idea. So far I've got one CD from ASFN put on my ipod, looking to put on my 2nd:))

But why don't we make email accounts for each type of genre?

Ex:
[email protected]
[email protected]

Then have the PW be the same for each account.

If you like something post a comment on it and/or post a similar album that people might also like.

I've thought of that but I don't think we have enough people yet to support different genres plus I think part of the point of this should be to listen to music you might not normally choose to listen to.

Another problem with that is google only provides limited space (about 35 albums per account and we already have 17). Sequentially numbering accounts is the most logical way to organize things.

I have been soo extremely busy as of late that I havent had much time to add more albums to it.....

Cmon everyone.. it's quite exciting/worthwhile since we have quite an eclectic mix of music taste on this forum and that is being replicated w/the albums that have been posted thus far..what a way to expand your music horizons....

This is a pretty cool project. I will try to contribute tonight.

One idea I had was we could use the lable feature and create lables for different genres. Then we could mark conversations(albums) with lables to help organize it.

Great suggestion!

I don't know how helpful it is going to be because we'll only be able to fit about 35 albums on there, but it sure looks cool.
