Great number crunching, George.

I find it interesting the the Spurs were #1 in Defensive Effcy and #16 in Offensive Effcy. Yet, the Suns were #16 in Defensive Effcy and #1 in Offensive Effcy.

I guess that means Defense really does win Championships.

I don't think that you need to be #1 in defense to win it all, though.

George, I imagine that these stats were from the regular season only. I wonder if we improved in Defense during the playoffs up until the SA series.

Yes really interresting. BUt not really a surprise.
May be it is a step to far in stats analysis.
Your conclusion should be "Nash you are fired!":D.

Nevertheless, in playoff defense matters.
We will not be champion untill we improve our it.

I had those numbers, but decided my article was too long with them. :thud:

Seriously, I found ranking the possession differntial tracked point differential so closely they were probably redundant. nba.com Statistics Sortable

The game actual impact of the points per possession factor is not as clear unless we look at what happens when it is multiplied by the league average number of possessions per game (roughly 95)

Team Points Per Impact
1 Spurs 0.949 90.16
2 Bulls 0.965 91.64
3 Pistons 0.971 92.24
4 Rockets 0.979 93.00
5 Grizzlies 0.988 93.87
6 Heat 0.988 93.89
7 Nets 0.993 94.33
8 Mavs 1.001 95.06
9 Sixers 1.004 95.40
10 Nuggets 1.010 95.96
11 Pacers 1.011 96.03
12 Cavs 1.013 96.28
13 Celtic 1.022 97.09
14 Blazers 1.022 97.11
15 Wolves 1.028 97.65
16 Suns 1.029 97.79
17 Warriors 1.030 97.83
18 Magic 1.031 97.98
19 Wizzards 1.033 98.11
20 Bobcats 1.037 98.47
21 Clippers 1.037 98.55
22 Hornets 1.040 98.80
23 Kings 1.041 98.89
24 Raptors 1.048 99.56
25 Sonics 1.050 99.74
26 Knicks 1.053 100.00
27 Bucks 1.057 100.44
28 Jazz 1.058 100.46
29 Lakers 1.070 101.69
30 Hawks 1.072 101.82

BTW, getting the factor to below 1.0 would mean more than a two point a game improvement for the Suns because their opponents get the ball over 100 times a game.
