There are only a handful of great horror movies that came out since 2000. And most of them have already been mentioned here. Most of them are absolutely awful. And not "good-bad" either, just really "bad-bad". Like Police Academy bad.

I liked Police Academy, at least the first one.

#2: Their First Assignment was funny also with Bobcat's and Tim Mazurksy's ascension into the series, 3 teetered on the edge and then all bets were off for the next 12.

In no order-

Alien (Aliens is my favorite of the series, but I think only the first is true horror, although I'm starting to appreciate 3 more as time goes on).

Jaws- It's been 20 friggin years and I still can't go past ankle deep in the ocean.

The Thing- How the heck has this not been mentioned yet?! It's creature effects STILL hold up today and it's still psychological and graphical thriller at it's most pure and basic.

Shaun of the Dead- like everyone else.

Dawn of the Dead (1978)- the remake was ok, but this one really took what was a stellar notion in Night of and cranked the reality up.

Evil Dead 2- Yup, I copy the living.

Event Horizon- Loved the notion, enjoyed the film and will watch it repeatedly, it's missing that "something" that makes films classic though.

Freaks- from 1932, I watch it because Stephen King glows about it in his book Dance Macabre. Not sure if it's on DVD, but it feels like the Citizen Kane of horror emotionally.

Good choice! There's a DVD available but unfortunately the only surviving prints are the heavily cut versions without the original ending. Still a good and effective movie, though. The climax is one of the creepiest sequences ever.

Join you on Jaws. Also, Blair Witch scared the heck out of me for some reason. Still does sort of. :)

You live in near any woods and have gone camping (not at a camp site) that movie should scare you senseless.

What really got me was BEFORE anyone was kidnapped/abducted.

The scene where the tent is shaken still give me the creeps.

Probably helped I saw it in a practically empty theater, and it was during my college days where I had my paranioa enhancers.

So far a lot of these titles on this thread a pretty good.

I would throw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the first Candyman into the ring.

And of course all three of the Evil Dead Series.

I still think Army of Darkness is a great flick:

Top 3 Quotes:

1. Ash: What? Were you raised in a barn? Shut the door! Probably was raised in a barn, along with the other primitives.

2. Ash: Now I swear the next one of you primates even *touches* me... [BOOOM]

3. Duke Henry: You're not one of my vassals... who are you?
Ash: Who wants to know?
Duke Henry: I am Henry the Red. Duke of Shale, Lord of the Northlands and leader of its peoples.
Ash: Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and ****... and Jack just left town

I sat in the second row of the theatre for Blair Witch. I join join on the tent scene being intense.

I don't have 10 but I will agree Jaws and Exorcist.

Someone said Texas Chainsaw Massacre, complete agree if it's the original, I really don't like the remakes but the original was great.

Original Halloween too.

The commercial for the movie "Magic" would send me screaming down the hall away from the television.
