wait a minute... wait a minute... If Joe Johnson can leave a 62 win team to play for a 62 loss team... then there has got to be a chance with Hutchinson. :sarcasm:

There has to be a reason Huff was signed. Maybe he is like best friends with Hutch and can hook him up with all sorts of chicks.

Believe!!

I don't want a guy who rises too far, ala Akili Smith. I want a guy who slips, ala Ben Roethlisberger. If a guy rises, it usually has to do less with ability (the games have all been played, so what happened to make him better?), than it does with hype.

Good point. I should have elaborated, and said unless a guy comes out that wasn't expected to (ala Young or Quinn) and is highly rated. A guy people pass on until he falls to us. Not saying I'm endorsing those players right now; lots of time between now and the draft.

Why would he leave a 10-2 team for a 4-8 team?

$$$...

But I do agree with you.

LeCharles Bentley is the guy we should target. We got the money to match any offer he will receive AND the all the uncertaincy about the coaching, facilities and location of the Saints, he probably just waiting to leave.

I agree I actually like Bentley better than Hutchinson and think we would have a legitmate shot at signing him. The one thing I think we need to keep in mind with the OL is that we need to get a group and let them play together. More than any other position in football the longer a group of O-line men play together the better they are, and what once was considered a poor group can be much better given time...

His identical twin M(A)rcedes is much better.

That said Marcedes has had a bit of a disappointing year to me, too many games the defense took him totally away from UCLA. USC tripled him at times but even when they were just zoning him it seemed to me he was a bit too passive. Great talent, but I do have a slight concern if he really has that drive to be a star?

Weird too if you saw him play basketball his freshman year he was the most aggressive player on the team.

Still very high on my list of players but the USC game he really disappointed me.

Does he block? We need a TE that can block.

After Leinart and Bush are off the board my attention would go to

Ahmad Brooks over AJ Hawk. Here is what they say about Brooks from nflfans.com

Pros: Great size, speed, jumping ability, and elite athleticism - the whole package when it comes to physical attributes. Terrific coverage and pass rushing skills. Sideline to sideline type of linebacker that can chase down the fastest of running backs and cover TEs and RBs well. Very hard hitting while being a good wrap-up tackler as well. Good at stuffing the run up the middle. Trained in the 3-4 scheme under Al Groh (former Parcells/Belichick protege) so should be able to come in and start immediately for any 3-4 team. With his speed, athleticism and pass rush skills, should be able to handle any LB spot inside or outside. Can take over a game with his defensive play.

Cons:Had minor knee surgery during the offseason, came back and sprained his ankle. Returned out of shape and not fully healed from ankle sprain. Not producing much this past season because of injuries because he's only played in about half the season. Questions could be raised about his work ethic from this past season. Although a disciplined player for the most part, tends to freelance once in awhile. In 2003, was caught with marijuana but no other reported incidents since.

I seriously think he will be joining the draft this year. Also since he is having a off season this could drop him to the 10-15 mark in the draft.

On another note I would not draft Ngata that early. He seems to be lost on the field and also takes to many plays off. I just do not see the desire to be the best playmaker when I look at Ngata.

And those cons are huge. His coaches are very disappionted him and his complete lack of conditioning and dedication in the off season. They expected a weight gain but not for him to balloon up to 280+ lbs. at the begining of initial workouts. And in the 6 games he did play, he looked horrible. Kids stock will not live off his prior year alone and will drop like a rock come draft day no matter what he does in the offseason. He will get some good advice hopefully and be told that he will not be draft high at all and should stay for another year and come back strong in what could be a light year for LB's in 2007.

The kid is still living off of his 2004 season which was good not great, and the talent the scouts saw and the pontential, all thought he was going to have a huge 2005 season which is why he was so high on most scouts lists the beginning of the year. I can really see him dropping down into the 20's, especially with better talent in front of him in Hawk and Greenway. It is a pretty good year for LB Talent.
