With a healthy Bayless the Cats would beat ASU by 20 on Wednesday.

I am not sure I am buying this. It's a challenge for anyone to blow ASU out because of their style of play and excellent zone defense. In addition, I watched most of the Cats game against Oregon and was not impressed with their defense. Hill and Corky Buddinger are legit, but the rest of the squad didn't really impress me. I think you'll be surprised how good Harden is. I am going to try to get to the game Wed....it should be interesting.

Oregon was easily the worst defensive game the Cats played this year, they have been pretty solid in that regard other than Saturday thus far. And yeah, both teams are a two-man show if Bayless doesn't play. Abbott and Nic Wise can contribute here and there but both are extremely inconsistent.

Yeah...I hadn't seen much of the Wildcats before that game. Since the Pac-10 season started, the Devils haven't been getting much out of their wing players. Guys like Abbott and Shipp need to start hitting their wide open 3's. I wonder if they will key Harden on Buddinger, Harden has been extremely impressive defensively.

Mao, don't drag me into this pissing contest. You know far more about UA hoops and hoops in general than any man alive. So stipulated.

It's an honor to read your unbiased input here.

I think a big key for ASU to get a W on Wednesday will be that either Shipp, Polk or Abbott will have to play a great game. Its possible to stop Pendergraph w/ either foul trouble or effective doubling. Harden is a Freshman and could always have an off game. Plus I imagine he'll be guarding Budinger to some degree (though the zone will probably keep him out of too many One on One match ups), which may wear him down, so we'll see how that effects his offensive game. ASU is still looking for that third offensive threat, and they'll need to emerge right quick for ASU to beat UA, or Pendergraph or Harden will have to have a career game.

The disappointing thing is that bad recruiting classes have left UofA so reliant on a new guy like Bayless that they struggle to win without him. If the coaches/staff had done a good job with the talent, then UofA should still be head and shoulders above ASU even without Bayless. As it stands, this is likely to be a real close game.

Since im a Duck i have to say asu win agaisnt Oregon was good becuse they shut down Oregon and held them to a half court game , were they had to use the 35 second shot clock to get a bad shot. agaisnt UofA oregon just got to run wild and score at will. So what im saying deffensivly Asu is better than uofa and but with talent its uofa. I think Asu will be good this year.

ASU will probably do well against a lot of teams that need to run to score. Sendek knows how to manage the tempo, the clock, and give his teams a chance to win -- and he finally has some half court offense to support his current agenda. Pendergraph definitely helps -- and I think Pendergraph is actually becoming a better NBA prospect because of it because he's having to become a consistent player at both ends of the court.

ASU will struggle against teams that can hit the offensive boards. That won't change until Sendek/Staff can raise the level of recruiting (again).

Actually check back at the end of the season, beating us without our best player won't mean much. Not to mention one W in five years doesn't mean you're a better program, Arizona has the talent coming in and in the pipeline to be a national contender very soon which you can't say about ASU.

And I love the ASU fan funny math saying since ASU beat Oregon and Oregon beat UA then that means ASU will beat UA on Wednesday that I've been hearing since about 4pm this afternoon. Weird how it doesn't work the opposite way when it comes to Illinois.

How about you ask the AP voters what THEY think about who has the better team.....:D
