This should be a great game. I expect another wild one with lots of scoring,

Lots of good info. in this article, including how tough WSU's defense is, but how bad their punt defense has been, one of the worst in the nation.
http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...tate-scouting-report-and-prediction/75213566/

WSU is about due for beating ASU, and they pulled ahead early in last year's game. ASU's blitzing could really back fire against Falk who puts up ridiculous numbers. I expect that it will be a mixed bag as usual, with ASU getting burned deep, and also racking up some sacks, and hopefully a turnover or two. Our secondary is not as good as it was last year, so this will be a big challenge.

One thing that caught my eye was Coach Leach's answer to a question at a press conference this week:

During his weekly Monday press conference, Washington State head coach Mike Leach was asked what it was about Arizona State’s D.J. Foster that made him so dynamic.

It’s not an outlandish question. After all, the Cougars host the Sun Devils in Pullman Saturday afternoon.

The answer was a bit strange (discussion begins at the 6:00 mark in the above video).

“I don’t even know who he is. I mean, I don’t have their whole roster memorized. You seem to like him, what does he play?” Leach said.

I am hoping this made it to ASU's locker room

ASU 38
WSU 31

I'm really worried that last game may have crushed their spirit.

It's been a long fall from all that talk about Devils in the playoff.

Well he's right about Foster. Hasn't done am squat this season.

Let's see, this season he became just the fourth player in NCAA history to total 2,000 career rushing and 2,000 career receiving yards. Is that squat?

This season he also broke John Jefferson's school record for most consecutive games with a reception. He has the longest active streak of games with a reception, I believe he is up to 48 now. That's squat isn't it?

Sure he only has about 200ish yards rushing and 300ish yards receiving with 6 TD's, but this is his first year playing in the slot. He has still managed to make some huge plays for ASU, while playing banged up for much of the year.

I said this season. Not like he's an NFL player or anything so tap the brakes a little on Foster's greatness. He's a good college player who will only be remembered in Tempe.

Are you kidding me? Wassu fails on 4th down and the refs give them a 5th down?

So basically, the refs screwed us 2 games in a row, likely costing us both games. Unbelievable.

Don't get me wrong, ASU made even more of its own mistakes, both in coaching, play calling, and execution on the field, that also cost us the games. But it just sucks that the refs are so frickin bad and added to what were already 2 very challenging games.

I'm an asu fan and you're grasping for straws that frankly don't exist. Homerism at it's best.

Pac-12 downgrades ASU-WSU officials, suspends 1 after "extra down" error

http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...s-suspends-1-after-extra-down-error/75416850/

The Pac-12 on Sunday announced it has downgraded the officiating crew that worked Saturday's Arizona State-Washington State contest and suspended line judge Rich Troyer one game for rewarding the Cougars an extra down during a key second-quarter drive.

Leading 14-3 in the second quarter, ASU appeared to stop Washington State receiver Gabe Marks short of a first down on a fourth-down play in the red zone. But an official blew the whistle before Marks was tackled or out of bounds. After huddling, the officials -- citing NCAA rule 4-1-2-B- 1 -- decided to replay the down.

Washington State scored on the next play, and the Cougars went on to win 38-24. However, the Pac-12 determined that Marks should've been ruled down because his forward progress had been stopped.

The Pac-12's statement:

"The Pac-12 has reviewed the play and has determined it should have been stopped at the point when the whistle blew as forward progress was stopped short of the first down. The ball should have been turned over to Arizona State on downs. As a result, the officiating crew erred in ruling this an inadvertent whistle and not officiating the initial whistle as the end of the play."

This is the second time in as many weeks the Pac-12 has admitted an officiating error in an ASU loss. In the Sun Devils' triple-overtime loss to Oregon, Pac-12 Vice President of Officiating David Coleman told ESPN.com that offsides should've been called on Oregon during a key fourth-quarter Oregon interception. Had the penalty been called, ASU -- leading 41-34 with six minutes to go -- would've kept possession.

Troyer was the line judge in that contest as well.

Same line judge got us twice? What are the odds of that happening?

Are you saying those positives about DJ are lies?

I realize his stats should be a lot higher, but fail to see the error in pointing out some of his achievements "this season" in response to a U of A troll saying he hasn't "done squat". Come on dude.

Not sure if it is true, but I read on another forum that the review official in the booth for the Oregon AND WSU games was U of A alum Jim Folgendance. I don't think that a review was involved on this 4th down play, but not sure since I didn't see that part of the game. It may part of the whole fake moon landing deal. :)

I might be wrong, but I'm guessing he was referring to your comments about the refs "costing us two games"...
We got some bad calls for sure. But they most definitely did not cost us the games.
We are simply not good enough, period. Not good enough at QB. At WR. At TE. At Linebacker. On our d-line. At coaching and play calling on both side of the ball.

You are what your record says you are... So, we are a team that is actually struggling just to make a pathetic, unwatchable bowl game. Reality sux Zero... Deal with it and don't blame the refs...

Man, what is with you people.

Here is the balance of my post that you DIDN'T read:

Unless you are going to read my full post, pull your head out of your arse with your "deal with it and don't blame the refs... crap.

So, what do think this means:

Sounds to me like you're confused... You stated the refs likely cost us two games. But then you acknowledge the way we played contributed.
Anyway, like I said... This team is pathetically fighting for an unwatchable bowl game. Cool! [emoji106]
