What really matters is their Pac 9 conference series this year, which will be in Tempe. Now I look forward to another Pac 9 series road victory over UDubb.

Lost to UW two days ago, but yesterday ASU won 11-5. Their bats woke up after only scoring 4 runs the previous game. Hopefully they can win another Pac-10 series today.

#10 Baseball Earns Series Victory With 8-5 Win Over Washington Brian Flores goes seven innings to pick up victory April 1, 2007

Box Score

SEATTLE, Wash. - Thanks to seven strong innings from starter Brian Flores and a four hit day from Brett Wallace, the Arizona State Sun Devils picked up their second straight Pac-10 road series win, defeating Washington 8-5. Flores earned his fifth victory of the year, helping the Devils improve to 23-10 on the year, 4-2 in Pac-10 play. The two games to one series victory at Husky Ballpark was ASU's first since 2001.
Flores went seven plus innings, allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out four. With the win, his record now sits at 5-1.
The Arizona State offense struck early, scoring three times in the first off Washington starter Tyler Cheney. Brett Wallace brought home the game's first run with an RBI double down the right field line. Ike Davis made it 2-0 with an RBI ground out, then Kiel Roling made it 3-0 with an RBI single to left. The Huskies scratched a run across in their half of the first against Flores to cut the lead to 3-1.
Ike Davis extended the lead to 5-1 in the third, sending a two-run double off the wall in right. Tim Smith added another run in the fourth, plating Andrew Romine with a sacrifice fly. Romine's RBI ground out in the fifth made it 7-1. Washington scored twice in the sixth to pull to within four at 7-3. The Dawgs would add two more in the eighth to cut it to 7-5 before Jason Jarvis would come in to quell the rally.

Kiel Roling added an insurance run in the ninth off Husky closer Nick Hagadone, sending a laser beam off the batter's eye in center to make it 8-5. It was Roling's eighth homer of the year, and the first earned run allowed by Hagadone this season.
Jarvis would close out the Huskies in the ninth to pick up his second save of the year. Wallace was 4-5 with an RBI, while Kiel Roling added three hits of his own with three RBI. Matt Spencer also had two hits for the Devils, who pounded out 14 hits as a team.
The Sun Devils continue Pac-10 play next weekend in Tempe, hosting Stanford for three games at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark beginning Thursday night.
Great win over a good team. Winning 2 straight series is a great way to start Pac-10 play. I love it. And they went up in the rankings too.

ASU beat Washington State 8-3 last night. We are now 8-2 in the conference and 27-10 overall, ranked #10, #11 and #12 in various polls. Murphy was upset with the team for leaving so many people on base and striking out too many times. I don't remember the exact number, but both were over 11.

ASU has now taken games 1 and 2 of their 3 game series against Louisiana-Lafayette. Going into today the Cajuns were #15 in the RPI, so hopefully ASU finishes off the sweep tomorow to give our #14 RPI a boost and also to help the Pac9 conference's RPI.
ASU has now won 10 straight games, and seem to be peaking at just about the right time.

The team is playing great right now. I wonder where we're(yes I said we, I like to pretend) ranked after this.

#10 ASU's winning streak came to an end with a 4-2 loss to Cal. It was a good run, hopefully they can start another streak today.

and "we" did start another streak today by whipping the Bears 15-2.

UCLA is starting to scare me a little. IMO they're the only team that stands between ASU and a Pac championship. Regardless, ASU is in good shape to get a #1 seed, and if they continue to take care of business then they've got a great shot at a national #1 seed.

As of now ASU needs to root for ua to somehow salvage their last game in their series against UCLA after losing the 1st 2 games.

Pac standings:

UCLA 10-1
ASU 11-3
ua 9-5

The Cats won game three so asu stays one game behind in the loss column and the UofA three.

losing the series to Cal isn't good at all. Luckily ASU didn't really drop in the polls, but they did drop in the RPI rankings.
ASU has 3 really tough series left in the Pac with OSU, UA, and UCLA. Hopefully ASU can use the rest of their season as a great tuneup for the post season, as those 3 series should be tougher than any regional they're in.

Wallace and Sogard were picked as 2 of the final 50 finalists for the Golden Spikes Award, which is given to the top collegiate player in the land.

That's awesome.

Question...why is it a two week wait from the Cal series to the UCLA series?

Unfortunately UCLA beat Cal today, putting UCLA a full 2 games up on the Devils in the Pac race.
