Sometimes when you bring in a relief pitcher (for Vander Kooi) with two outs in the 8th, it doesn't work out as planned giving up a 3 run home run.

ASU hires Jason Kelly as pitching coach.

He is coming from University of Washington where he served as pitching coach, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

In seven seasons at Washington, Kelly has contributed to three postseason teams including a 2018 trip to the College World Series. The Huskies’ 2018 staff included All-Pac-12 pitchers Joe DeMers and Alex Hardy.

This season, Washington had a school-record five pitchers with 50 or more strikeouts with three of those – Josh Burgmann, Jordan Jones, Chris Micheles – selected in the first half of the MLB draft.
