PG, will be a soph in HS this year in Sacramento. Many had him rated the top PG in the state in his class and among the best in the country for 2011 it's a surprise he verballed this year nobody had expected it this early on.

I haven't seen him play yet but I've read quite a bit on him all the Pac 10 schools were interested he's apparently a very precocious kid plays with a lot of savvy for such a young kid. The only knock you hear on his game is outside shooting which is no surprise for that age. Supposed to be very quick and an elite athlete. He visited ASU 2 weeks ago and his mom said it was the best visit he'd had(he'd also visited San Jose State and saw UCLA when he was at their advanced skills camp).

Scout currently only has him rated as a 2 star, but I imagine thats just because its really early. Herb seems to be doing a good job bringing in PGs, 4 star McMillan, 3 star Jared Cunningham and now perhaps the top PG in California.

Now if only he can get a big in here to replace Pendy, because ASU is going to be super thin up front. Though it sounds like they're looking at a couple of 3 star bigs in Florida here soon, one is a Russian who I hope we land just so I can make dumb Ivan Drago jokes and scream out "I WILL CRUSH YOU" at the games.

Scout has him at 3 stars. Greg Hicks hasn't ranked the kids in that class yet he doesn't do that until they've played their soph year but he has written that Turner is currently the top PG on the West coast in that class that he's seen.

Also, correct my earlier post, Hicks says he's a good shooter.

Once again, this early commit by a soph in highschool is disgusting. College hoops recruiting continues to descend to knew ethical lows.

The kid's parents must be idiots to allow this to happen.

He's about to be a soph so it's above the new threshold that the NCAA has asked of coaches.

I don't mind verbals when a kid is in highschool, kids can and do cancel verbals all the time as things change.

What I do mind is the 8th grader nonsense because I think at that age any such commit is because of the parent, usually the father, 8th grade kids don't just decide to commit to a school, they're pushed to do so by their parents. Kids the age of Turner I believe have been exposed quite a bit to the system now so if they decide to commit verbally I'm inclined to think it's really their decision.

But I would fully support a rule that says you can't take a verbal commit from any kid until he's a junior in HS. If it's a hard rule that nobody can break I think most schools would support it.

Well, I can look at it another way. If my kid can get a free ride to a Pac-10 universtiy, I will take it as soon as possible. I'm not going to judge them.
