Thompson was never going to play. There are too many players at his position ahead of him in the rotation.

Walker didn't fit Herb's system this year, mostly because can't shoot. I think Boateng has a better shooting form. I would have liked to see Walker stay and improve but from what I've heard his attitude isn't the good and his work ethic in practice is questionable.

One of the replies below that story had the same rumor being discussed elsewhere that Victor Rudd might leave too. I've heard Rudd is in trouble academically too.

Whatever happened with Kuksiks and his family situation is he coming back?

Seems like much of the Pac 10 has this issue, UCLA still could lose another player to transfer and there's still rumors of more turnover on their coaching staff. Seems like the whole conference is in more flux than normal.

There have been rumors of Rudd leaving but no one knows for sure. Kuksiks still hasn't announced a decision. They would be bigger losses than Walker.

"Jumping Ship?"

Like the scene in Master and Commander where the ship jinx jumps overboard with a cannonball?

My take on Rudd is he's one of those coach killer types. He'll make plays that make you drool but he's just so inconsistent and apparently a pain in the rear, not particularly coachable. Talented for sure.

I was surprised how well Walker played this year, I didn't think he could shoot anywhere near as good as he did but he seemed to taper off and lost all his PT.

Rumor has it that his effort in practice was lacking and that's why Sendek cut his minutes.

Sendek knew what he was getting into when he signed Rudd. His character was questionable and grades have always been an issue. No clue if he stays or not but his situation has never been stable.

Rihards is all but gone. I'd be VERY surprised if he came back. A lot of people don't realize that he almost left after his Sophomore year

Rudd to UTEP or wherever Reggie Theus lands.

I'm also not buying into the doom and gloom scenario even if Kuksiks leaves, Sendek's system is so well entrenched there that they'll be fine even though their recruiting efforts recently have been questionable at best. Nothing to write home about but not falling off the radar either. Dick Tomey Jr.

Crazy off year. Rumor today on BRO is that Mike Moser is now transferring. Not a shock he didn't play at all so we assumed he might leave but Howland just a few days ago said after having one on one meetings with the whole team he didn't think anybody else was transferring or going pro. Now it looks like Moser is gone and Lee still might declare for the draft.

I continue to hear Donte Smith might not be back at USC and that Oregon is going to lose a couple of kids depending on whether the new coach retains Kenny Payne on the staff.
Just amazing turnover in the conference this year.

I think D. Walker may end up at UTEP, I seem to recall Floyd recruiting him while he was at SC.
He was once committed to USC but dropped the Trojans to stay in Phoenix and attend ASU. As a result Tim Floyd then went after Solomon Hill (who was once committed to Arizona and later committed to USC only to end up back at Arizona after they hired Sean Miller) and Noel Johnson (who dropped USC to go to Clemson after the Mayo allegations came out) while ASU dropped Jared Cunningham (who ended up at Oregon State) and targeted Walker who now might end up with Tim Floyd (who was scapegoated at USC and ended up at UTEP) once again.

Everyone got all that? Gotta love college basketball recruiting.

Scout is reporting Taylor Rhode is transferring as well. So now ASUs 2008 class is a total bust, weee. Hopefully ASU can land McCombs and he and Dunson can make up for that class and be strong JRs for ASU.

Not that Rhode in it of himself is a huge loss, he was undersized, but losing 3 guys (and probably 4 when you include Kuksiks) seems like its going to be tough to deal with.

Don't be shocked if this becomes a seven man recruiting class. Could be 2 more welcome additions (McCombs and another big time recruit)!

I'm not counting on ASU landing another 'big time' recruit. Maybe we have different definitions of 'big time' but unless its someone who decommits from another school, in the Rivals Top 150 the only unsigned player that ASU is in on is Trey Zeigler. According to this article he does still plan on visiting ASU sometime and is the last place he's visiting, so I suppose thats a good sign for the Devils. However it just seems like with Hawkins and King already in this class it may be hard to convince him to come here.

What's interesting is all of Sendek's recruiting misses are leaving. One wonders how much of this is players leaving for playing time or players leaving because they've been told they have no place in the program. Wonder if Sendek seeks the writing on the wall with those kids and realizes he can't 'coach them up' like Derek Glasser and some of the other hard-workers he's had.

Coaching changes open up many recruits this time of year, but yeah, as of yesterday there's nobody in the top 100 ASU has a serious chance with. Zeigler is either going to stay in Michigan or follow his Dad somewhere.

Rhode is gone if McCombs commits to ASU. It's widely known that McCombs will be a Devil once Sendek offers. Personally, I'd rather have a big body like McComb over Rhode.

I'm also not worried about Rihards leaving. He's a great shooter but leaves much to be desired in other areas. Sendek needs to let this recruiting class come in and play as opposed to what he's done in the past giving PT to stiffs like Shipp, Boateng (Sendek had no choice), etc.

I don't think ASU has much of a chance w/ Zeigler either but the fact that he's taking his last visit to ASU does leave the door slightly open for the Devils, that always seems to be a good position to be in. But if I were the kid, Id go to CMU and play for my Dad b/c playing for ones Dad seems awesome.

Rhode is already gone.

E: Also I just thought of Carson Desrosiers. He was down to a final 3 of Wake Forest, Marquette and ASU (a pretty diverse final 3) and chose Wake. Theyve since fired their Coach and I wonder if ASU would have a shot with him. Hopefully Sendek and Dedrique Taylor are making a push for him. He's #87 overall on Rivals rankings.
