Nice win. Looks like Graham has saved his job with the wins against Oregon, Washington and Utah. Team is playing good football.

The surprising part for me is the emergence of the ASU defense against Washington and Utah. Coming into the season or even a few weeks ago I would never have believed it.

I'm a big AZ sports fan but I chose the name devilalum for a reason.

I already have my tickets for next week. Could be for the South title.

Too bad SC is losing to Note Dame. Would be better if they come.in to SDS riding their high horse.
True but it doesn't effect the race for the Pac 12 championship.

Would just like to see them highly ranked and over confident

Looks like we'll see them lower ranked and fighting to save their season

Seriously, what the hell changed to turn ASU defense around?

1. Ball control mentality of the offense under new OC. Keeping the D more fresh.

2. Less gambling with blitzes under Bennett.

3. Key players coming into their own. Chase Lucas looking like a lock down corner. DJ Calhoun stuffing the run. And today our 3rd string devilback coming up big.

4. Better tackling and coverage down field.

Kudos to Graham for giving up the play calling and allowing Bennett to handle that. This has been the major reason for what we are seeing and not many head coaches would set ego aside for the good of the team.

The offense the last two games has looked more relaxed and they are chewing up time of the clock leaving the defense better rested. The tackling is night and day different but it is easier to tackle when you drop 7 or 8 into coverage because the running areas close much faster than the blitz happy times with Graham calling the defense.

Confidence is building up for this team. You can see the swagger now they need to temper that swagger and not get over confident. I said last week there is no game on the schedule that scares me anymore but if they start getting cocky the wheels could easily come right off.

Basically they stopped blitzing on every down the last two weeks.

But they’re only able to do that now because they are somehow getting a pass rush with their front line... Wren is kinda the only new-ish change on the dline... but can his presence alone be he cause?

Dunno

There were several plays yesterday where Utah had all day to throw but nobody was open. They shredded SC the week before. Crazy

There were at least 3 times announcers said a Utah WR was running wide open plus that one missed pass that probably would have gone for 6. Sounds like a QB who can see the field better might have shredded ASU.

Simply put though the DL is getting pressure without blitzing and that makes life much easier

Absolutely.
When you can get pressure without blitzing you're gonna have a lot of success. Much easier said than done of course.

The coverage was there almost all day. It's hard to believe.

I like it when the Sun Devils vary their defense and are no longer a primary blitzing team.

Utah did have that one receiver wide open that would have gone all the way but their QB missed him but that happens to almost every defense. Probably a missed assignment.

They showed the replay. The corner thought he had help over the top.
