ASU looked good last night against an OK Stanford team. Hopefully they can build on it. I was impressed with just about every aspect aside from the kickoff coverage team.

Herring needs to get healthy, he adds so much to the rushing attack. It was apparent in limited carries that he is a game changer.

I've always been a Rudy Carpenter fan and so far 2 games in to this season he seems to be playing pretty smart and tough. He's miles better than Andrew Walter ever was, yet gets more criticism, I'll never figure that one out.

This team really showed something in how they handled the Cardinal last night and they have me really looking forward to the games vs. Georgia and SC. One thing that concerns me is the goal line carries. We just couldn't get it in the endzone.

It's also a shame there was only one post on a great game and around 10 on some game announcer who doesn't matter.

I am not really an ASU FAN, but I will follow them from time to time and catch some games when I can (I spent a couple of semesters there and my father is a grad so I listened to them/followed them/went to some games during the Kush and subsequent eras). Anyways, I am watching the game last night and noticed on one particular series (it was still 7-3 Stanford at the time, I believe) that ASU broke the huddle with 12 players, the 12th ran off barely making it before the play clock expired and the announcers were saying "Well, now they have their 11 guys", or something like that, and there was no flag! Is that legal now in the PAC-10? I am a BYU fan because I have two degrees from BYU (Civ Eng) and because I live in Utah, and of course some of you have heard about the BYU-UW game and how that ended, so what is up with PAC-10 refs?

Anyways, solid win over the Cardinal and I hope that it continues against Georgia and USC in the future as it will help both ASU and BYU. :) Now, if you will just let BYU into the PAC-10 it will be much better. We can switch with UA. :)

in the student section, we were already chanting bring on Georgia. lets crush UNLV and head into the game vs Georgia with some momentum.

I was at the game last night Section 12. Why do people jingle their keys when the kickoff begins?

I watched most of the game and it seemed like ASU's offensive line was as bad as last year's, with Carpenter on his back after many of his pass attempts.

If they can't keep Stanford out, I wonder how they'll fair against Georgia.

Yeah the OL did not look great. They still only allowed 2 sacks, Carpenter is getting rid of the ball a lot faster than last year. Thats an adjustment to the offense and showing Carpenter's experience. If you blitz them Carpenter will get hit but that means that Taylor and Jones will likely have 1 on 1 coverage--I'll take it. The OL is relatively inexperienced and will be playing better week to week.

Hopefully the team isn't thinking "bring on Georgia"...one week at a time. Take care of business against UNLV before even thinking about Georgia.

We did move up to #13. No worries. Focus on Nevada. Thrashing Stanford that badly was fun and shocking.

As far as Herring goes, hamstring injuries rarely get better in-season without several games of rest. I'm not counting on him at all from here on. That's life. If he can contribute, great. we are better with him.

I remember one other item from the game which was hilarious:

"Will the stands please stop blowing whistles. If you do not stop blowing whistles, there will be.........consequences."

Growing up going to ASU games in the 80s, that was always a U of A tradition. I wish they wouldn't do it at ASU games...
