I can be as sarcarstic and jaded as the next fan. I can play "devils advocate" with anybody. I don't believe that we all wouldn't be excited to see Emmitt sign with the Cardinals. Somewhere, deep down, we would all get a rush! Don't tell me it wouldn't be cool to see #22 come out in Cardinal red. Its pointless to argue rushing yrds/game, or fewer carries/game for M Shipp. Emmit is the leading rusher in NFL history! It would be a tremendous psychological lift.

No I cant give you that because it would not excite me in the least to see an average RB we dont need suiting up in Cardinal red regardless of what his name is or his history!

Not with other holes to fill!!! And even if the Cards were to take a RB in Free Agency, there are at least 2 others I would rather have. Furthermore, it is strictly a PR move and to me, that shows nothing about building a winning team.

Nope, I cant agree with you there. If they want a legit, backup RB or a guy who will push for the starting position, go after Davis, Lamar Smith, or draft Mgahee or larry Johnson....whatever-just dont sign E. Smith to bring cowboy fans to the stadium!

Emmit would bring attention and fans to the Cards.

More attention and Fans = more Monday night games and sold out games = more national exposure = more endorsements for players = more FA's for the Cards = more wins = more attention, and so on and so on.....

We gotta start somewhere.

Smith

I have mixed feelings about the Smith decision.

If he doesn't come I won't lose any sleep.

If he does come I don't see it as a great negative. If you overpay him and he sucks you simply cut him. I think he can still get you 50-100 yards per game. He may not be durable enough to give you 20-25 carries but thats why we have Shipp-Scobey-Anderson.

It may wipe out the stigma that no one wants to come to the Cards. That 4 man frenzy the other day helped.

This year's free agent pool is just not a good one. I wouldn't say this is a sign just to be signing deal (if it happens).

Will it hurt the team? No

Will it help the team? It should.

Will it bring in more money for the team? Yes.

This is a business....so those that say he'll be overpaid need to think of the revenue he'll generate.

Buckeye (and any one else who wants to see Smith signed),

Yes, I agree he will generate revenue. I believe though that if you put a good team on the field year after year, the revenue will take care of itself. Not with smoke and mirrors.

Especially not with 9 million dollar smoke.

I hate to be a fence rider....but I guess I'm allowed to at least once.

If you pinned me down actually I'd say no to Smith....but as I said before......signed....not signed.....7 million....9 million......signing or not signing Smith is like HR pointed out not the most important thing. Signing those 4 and getting a pass rusher are much more important. If he doesnt' sign that's OK with me. If he does sign I'm not gonna piss and moan about the money.....I just hope he contributes to team success.

It's not the money that worries me.

It's what it says about our team to our PLAYERS that bothers me.

It's back to that old I'm untouchable because I am who I am thing that we just got rid of in Plummer that makes me finally just want to say no.

Parcells isn't stupid he knew that he'd butt heads with E. Smith because of the power E. Smith would wield and that it would just turn into a distraction so he had no problem punting E. Smith.

Our coaches are vacilating because of the exact same thing. If a player is there because the owner is frothing at the mouth for him for a PR boost then the coaches lose power over that player.

E. Smith said some of the right things but one real bad thing in that he mentioned carries at all.

A true champion player would have said I just want to help the team win and my carries are meaningless. My ability and my contribution will sort that out. I simply want to help the team win.

He did not phrase it like that and that will be a problem if he comes here.

The problem isn't necessary and winning will be all we need to put butts in the seats period.

Smith or no Smith, without wins the seats will stay empty.

Can anyone honestly say that should Smith falter a bit not a lot but some and Shipp does say above expectations that Smith wont remain the starter? He would and that will cause problems only worse than Plummer because we would in actuality have a more legitimate option that the players could see we weren't using just because of who Smith is.

I don't think all that is worth a small PR boost.
