I just called them, and they said I'll be receiving an e-mail with instructions on unlocking it. They'll need your IMEI# and an e-mail address to send the instructions to.

Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer’s account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.

That's correct.

Even overseas in Portugal, I'm stuck with roaming on it. I can't buy a local sim card from Vodafone or Optimus and use it with local rates. AT&T didn't allow it, even though I've been past my two-year commitment for a while now.

I haven't gotten anything from AT&T to give me the go ahead to unlock yet, but they said it should be done by the 16th. Fingers crossed!

ah.

AT&T sucks, i left them like 6 years ago.

Back then they had bought Altell I believe and their advertising was "least dropped calls" I dropped calls multiple times a day the month I used that garbage.

Cingular I think. Alltel was bought by Verizon - I was an Alltel customer and LOVED Alltel. Verizon is ok. ATT bites sack.
