-Dave Mac is a good guy.

Mac came up because LB coach in Tenn, right? Is that suggesting he'd bring Mac as DC??

-Need to magnify the skills of current talent.

Boy, is that a "right" thing to say...and something we didn't do under Green.

-Kept track of Matt stats during the year. Thinks all three rookie QB's are a 'cut above'.

That's funny! Also, shows that he's very studious.

-Agressive D, hire good DC. Express to Mike and Rod a style that gave himself the most problems. Mentioned Zone Blitz.

I like that...something others have alluded to on here that as a brilliant offensive mind, he'll have insight into defense from the perspective of the hardest to gameplan against. Makes sense to implement defensive strategies that a brilliant offensive strategy guy has problems with.

-Cardinals interview exciting because of all the talent.

-Dave Mac is a good guy.

-Loves the Arizona community because of the diversity and life style.

-End of interview.

Bingo! If anything went underutilized last season, it was the talent on offense. That's partially due to o-line woes early on, but if Chow is able to get this offense to jump on top early, it makes Stephen Jackson, Gore, and Alexander less important.

Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines, but near the end of the interview, Norm mentioned wanting to have an aggressive defense of the kind that has given him the most trouble and hiring a defensive coordinator who can do that.

Also - Interesting that he mentioned that this was the only interview he's been invited to thus far (although that's OK, because the Cards are the most exciting option anyway - because of their QB, WR's, RB and 6-8 TE). He also had nice things to say about the latest O-line moves of Leckey at C, Deuce inside and Wells to RT.

And that he loved the Valley due to its diverse population and lifestyle (many NFL players live here in the offseason).

Phoenix has a diverse population? I guess compared to Memphis, TN.

-In regards to putting together a staff, knows alot of people over the years and has alot of people in mind.

-Watched OL at SD, Wells and Leckey solidified line.

-Wants CB's to cover one on one.

Havent listen to it yet and dont know the context of these answers but from the outside looking it it sounds as if he really has watched the tapes of these guys, and not just the O but the D as well. It sounds as if he came very prepared with knowledge of the team and a plan for not just the players but a coaching staff as well. I will listen to it later but I like what I am reading so far.

And he does have a lot of contacts in the college ranks and NFL to put together a very respectable staff.

This is the guy. I want him. I even liked everything he said about how he wants his DC to run the defense.

Open. Honest answers. Friendly. Doesn't talk down to the reporters. No ego hangups.

Case closed. Cancel all other interviews. Don't let this guy out of town.

I'm very nervous about this if he gets hired, whereas I would have gone certifiable had he landed the UofA job. So I guess that means nothing except I'm softening up on Norm Chow because on paper the only reason I can see to consider him is his relationship with Leinart.

Even if he doesn't really understand D, maybe he can work closely with whomever he hires as DC. You know, they can brainstorm with Norm coming up with what he would do on O, and the DC can help figure out ways to shut that down. That could help both of them develop new ideas and plays.

The Archive recording didn't work...but, based on the info provided, I love what Chow had to say...really, the SMARTEST prognosis of this team I have heard in decades.

Wants his defense to play the kind of defense that gives him fits as a coordinator...yeah, baby! That's what I'm talking about.

Would love to know who is choice for DC is...

Wants his CBs to play man coverage. Obviously, he sees what we do...awful pass coverage in a loose cover 2 zone.

Wants to enhance the talents on offense. Right on.

Likes the continuity that Wells at RT, Lutui at RG and Leckey at C generated. Very much agreed.

Speaks highly of Matt Leinart...enough said.

I have said all along that I think he would be the choice. Today I am convinced of it.

The thing is...we haven't had a HC who could provide clever, innovative game plans in decades...this guy can and will call the plays...and has a track record par excellance.

I agree with Skkorp...sign him now...don't let him leave town.

 Sign of a highly intelligent individual is to recognize your weaknesses and turn them into positives. Here, he translates defensive styles that he has a problem with into a positive...wanting to implement it to have it cause problems for others.

One thing I feel strongly about with Chow is that we will never be out-gameplanned or out-strategized on the field. He may not have the fire and passion of a guy like Pendergrast, but I'd take knowing I'm going into battle with a superior mind--that my coach can outcoach the other guy--over firey personality any day. Andy Reid-like...

If Graves and company treat this with same urgency as signing James, he won't get out of town. Leinart is probably having supper with him.

I'm getting delirious. Must be the :koolaid:

That's why Mike Martz hired Lovie Smith as his DC with the Rams. In the Rams case, their defense fell apart when Lovie joined the Bears.

He wont be signed today or tommorow. They will give Grimm his due first, then make their decision.

If we dont see a signing by the end of this week the it clearly means we are targeting a guy who is still in the playoffs in Cameron, Rivera, or Caldwell.

Agree, it would be bad form to blow off Grimm. But that doesn't mean they can't have a soft verbal committment in place today.

Good point. It's also an advantage to hiring Chow, Sherman, or one of the Pittsburgh assistants. They would get a week or two head start.

Chow has no more interviews scheduled, so I see no reason to rush into a decision until all the candidates have been interviewed.

With all this excitement over Chow right now, what are the odds we hire someone else?
