All the problems were caused by politics, and economics. It was never about football. I find the Cardinals guilty of politics early on, when they offered money to make the Tempe site work. They owed Tempe from 1988, and Tempe, (the big loser in all this) had economics in mind, along with "cache"
After that episode, all bets were off. It spun out of control. The whole thing was taken over by political figures, and they manipulated the public.
At the end of the day, I personally feel like we got the best situation we could have got, with the Hockey and football venues together.
If Scottsdale would have done what the voters wanted in the first place, there's no way the new stadium would be in Glendale. Once Glendale got the Coyotes arena, it just made more sense to put them together. Tempe need look no further than Scottsdale, if they're looking to blame someone for their loss.
