My wife just informed me that her computers at her office and her personnel laptop were automatically updated to Windows 10. Has this happened to anyone here?? She declined the update on her office desk top, but it kept asking her , she kept declining, and now her desk top is frozen.

Also her office managers computer and the one she has at home were also updated.

Without it she can't operate her business..

Ya I did a google search and there's a lot of articles concerning this. It appears that Microsoft got tired of offering for free and decided to update all window 7 and 8.1 machines.. You can decline it after its loaded but, in my wifes case, it just rolled back to accept or deny. There have been many instances of the update starting while people were in the middle of something.. They lost all that they were working on.

What I don't understand is how they can get away with altering computers without the owners permission. I suspect its one of those to big to fail things.

What happens is MS has the box checked for the upgrade in the optional updates. So if someone goes in to the run updates and doesn't actually check for the updates, Win10 is installed.

They've been doing this for several months actually, but now that the 1-yr free upgrade is ending - end of June or July, i think - they're probably getting more aggressive of forcing the update.

mine keeps trying to get me to "upgrade" to windows 10... but I uncheck all the auto buttons when I first set up the PC...

imagine how much advertising and spyware must be added to windows 10 for MS to be out there pimping it for free....bad enough that as it is, I go to homedepot.com to check on some tile prices and as soon as I switch to the FB tab I have ads for tile.....
