Everyone is talking about Trey Smith. It’s possible KC tries to retain him. If they can agree to a deal they will likely have to move someone to clear cap space. One possible move is trading Joe Thuney. Though older he would be a good choice to allow Adams to develop further. Other older guards may be available between free agency and trade. Kevin Zeitler and Dalton Risner (29, but lots of tread wear) will be accessible.

Considering what we have in Adams, and if we re-sign Hernandez, I'm fine with adding another mid tier FA at Guard and saving our money for other positions. A guy like Trey Smith ($20M minimum) is a luxury we can't afford at this point.

this team lives and dies by the Oline. It must be addressed in free agency and we CAN afford Trey Smith

Agreed - we can afford Trey Smith.

A couple of other names:

James Daniels - Pittsburgh
Mekhi Becton - blossomed at G this year (like Leonard Davis)

always a little leery of the worst player on a stellar unit.

What if their worst player is better than our best?

They had 3 pro bowlers on that line and Becton had a final grade of 75. Solid.

Can vs. should is always the question - our guards last year when healthy were fine...probably league average. Does that necessitate a 20M+ per year player at G? Especially when we have so many other needs?

I love signing veteran linemen.
A. You know what you're getting.
B. It is instant results barring injury.

Guards can be horrible values too. Look at the Rams OG signing this offseason. He was a disaster.
