Waiting until the 2nd round will be a big whoops. he won't be there. He won't be there@ 25. Best "system" QB since Derek Carr ( only 2 years ago ). The NFL is using more "system" than ever.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. was a MLB pitcher for 12 seasons. Junior grew up with pro mentality being around his father's teams. His Gruden chalkboard session should be quite interesting and telling.

I watched his full game against ASU last year and not only does he have elite arm talent, he can run, and he seems smart as well.

Texas Tech coaches have said that no one has understood the air raid system better than he has. That makes me think he could learn Arians system. Think of him like Thomas, but he has actual potential. Sit him one year and then have him compete for the job next year.

Davis Webb is another intriguing candidate as well. Based on prior QBs that Arians has worked with, I could see Webb as Arians favorite QB from this draft.

We do not have a QB for the future of the franchise. We have no choice, but to draft now and early in the round and then do so till we find him. If this current class sinks us for doing so, well guess what... we will have to do it again next year with similar prospects till we hit the jackpot

Walterfootball now has Mahomes going to Buffalo as the tenth pick. I doubt that this will happen because I believe Buffalo will want a conventional qb. It does show that Mahomes will end up being a first round pick.
