I don't know if Garcia is the short-term answer, but I would bet on him being considerably more successful with the '05 Cardinals than the '04 Browns. As for Johnson, I just don't know what happened to him. I understand Tampa's desire to get Simms into the mix, but the actual signing of Griese was a vote of no-confidence in Johnson even before last season began. I'm not sold on Bledsoe, either. He's had a lot of opportunity to resurrect his career in Buffalo, and it's never quite happened. For a pure short-term solution, I think I'd be more inclined to go with Garcia than Bledsoe.

I can't wait to see how it pans out, though.

What about Aaron Brooks? IMO, this is the "elephant" Denny's trying to bag this offseason!

Although i can't remeber his name,NO just hired a new OC.If he doesn't like Brooks then maybe there's a chance he gets let go.But usually a new OC will try to work with the current QB for the first year anyway.

Aaron Brooks may be an UFA, however New Orleans would have to be nuts to let him get away... The other QB's on their roster are Todd Bouman and Kliff Kingsbury.

I dont think there is any chance of nabbing Brooks.

That said, I would be all over Jeff Garcia. I have allways liked his tuffness, & his heart. The guy just seems to make plays. I think he would be a perfect fit in AZ for the next 2 - 3 years. Giving us time to groom a young QB.

I agree he was not ready (but how many 7th round QBs are in their first rookie starts -Rothensberger withstanding) and I don't expect him to contend for the starting job this year? As for him being scared -what game were you watching? He was completely poised and confident in the pocket. He was far more setteled then Josh was most of his games last year. His failures came via mistakes in his throws and most of them came after he broke his finger. I have tremendous optimism for Navarre. He may never be a pro bowl QB but he will be in this league for a long time.

gotta agree w/ reddog. the one thing i saw from navarre that impressed me was poise. he was NOT scared. he never looked skittish. even when the game was falling apart. does he have "it"? i don't know, but i liked what little i saw of a seventh round pick making his first surprise start w/o much time w/ the first team offense.

Thats what I saw as well....John seemed to have command of the huddle and the pocket presence that everyone seems to harp on. He did what any rookie thrown to the wolves would do with his deceision making. This is not a critic of JM. He has a different game and looks to move out of the pocket more than JN does. I think he could be a solution for us down the road a couple of years. Until then the talk about a FA QB that is available is good for competition and a fall back but Josh McCown will be the Qb next season. If he starts to beat us by making bad choices then we will have a real Qb to turn to rather than King. It will be fun seeing who it is and how they all compete. May the best man win....I am rooting for McCown.( Even though the jersey I got for X-mas is now obsolete)

I just didnt see the poise that people keep saying was there. Did he have it? Who knows, but really how much pressure could there have been when he was basically given the chance after the first 2 failed. The team had lost the last 2 games so there really couldn't have been much pressure being that he was the last option at the time. He very well may end being the better QB, but from that game I dont see where he showed it.
