Reddog said:I agree he was not ready (but how many 7th round QBs are in their first rookie starts -Rothensberger withstanding) and I don't expect him to contend for the starting job this year? As for him being scared -what game were you watching? He was completely poised and confident in the pocket. He was far more setteled then Josh was most of his games last year. His failures came via mistakes in his throws and most of them came after he broke his finger. I have tremendous optimism for Navarre. He may never be a pro bowl QB but he will be in this league for a long time.
Thats what I saw as well....John seemed to have command of the huddle and the pocket presence that everyone seems to harp on. He did what any rookie thrown to the wolves would do with his deceision making. This is not a critic of JM. He has a different game and looks to move out of the pocket more than JN does. I think he could be a solution for us down the road a couple of years. Until then the talk about a FA QB that is available is good for competition and a fall back but Josh McCown will be the Qb next season. If he starts to beat us by making bad choices then we will have a real Qb to turn to rather than King. It will be fun seeing who it is and how they all compete. May the best man win....I am rooting for McCown.( Even though the jersey I got for X-mas is now obsolete)Ouchie-Z-Clown said:gotta agree w/ reddog. the one thing i saw from navarre that impressed me was poise. he was NOT scared. he never looked skittish. even when the game was falling apart. does he have "it"? i don't know, but i liked what little i saw of a seventh round pick making his first surprise start w/o much time w/ the first team offense.
