Representatives from two teams called on Friday to express interest in signing quarterback Kurt Warner, said Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein.
No offers were made, Bartelstein said, and Warner still prefers to re-sign with the Cardinals.
Bartelstein declined to name the teams that called, and he characterized the contact as “recruiting” calls. At some point, Bartelstein said, Warner will “have to decide” if he wants to listen to other teams.

Bartelstein visited the team’s Tempe facility on Thursday to meet with General Manager Rod Graves and coach Ken Whisenhunt, then returned home to Chicago. He planned to speak with Graves later Friday.
There have no indications a deal is imminent. The two sides are believed to be about $3 million to $4 million apart on yearly average. The Cardinals have offered $20 million over two years, with half of that guaranteed, while Bartelstein is seeking around $29 million, with a higher amount guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals stayed out of the fray on the first day of free agency. No free agents were expected to visit on Friday and Saturday. Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden is scheduled to arrive for a visit Sunday night, according to NFL.com and profootball.com.
The Cardinals are shopping for a cornerback to compete with Rod Hood for a starting job. McFadden was drafted out of Florida State by the Steelers in the second round in 2005.
He didn’t become a regular starer until this year, however, when he started eight of 10 games. He missed six games with a fractured right forearm, but returned to start in the playoffs, including the Super Bowl victory over the Cardinals.
It will be interesting to see what contract offers McFadden will receive, because the market for cornerbacks has skyrocketed in the past week. Domonique Foxworth, a part-time starter with the Falcons, signed a four-year, $28 million deal on Friday with Baltimore. About $16.5 million of that is guaranteed, according to reports.
The Cardinals lost a player, running back J.J. Arrington, on the first day of free agency. Arrington, a third-down back and kick returner, agreed to terms with Denver on a four-year deal. Financial figures were not available.

29 mill with more then half of that gauranteed. I can see why this has taken so long, thats just a plain old stupid contract demand. Why not ask for a 25% take of the home game concenssions as well. Heck throw in 5% of the parking take as well for good measure.

Warner is asking for far more gauranteed money then Haynesworth got

7 years - 41 mill gauranteed = 5.86 average gauranteed money per year.

2 year 14.5 mill gauranteed - 7.25 average gauranteed money per year.

In all honest if the Cards are offering 10 mill gauranteed for a 2 year contract, that is just barelt under what Haynesworths recording breaking contract got. Cards are without a doubt not being cheap in this process what so ever.

Bartlestein is acting like this is the last deal he'll ever make.

If this is true, the Cardinal FO is being more than generous and fair. The Cardinals have treated Warner with fairness and class, when they said he would have a equal shot at earning the starting position at the beginning of last season...he was given that chance and the Cardinals upheld their side...wake up Kurt...sign already

Such a comparison and the word "honest" do not belong in the same post.

Cardinals should up the guarantee for next season, not the overall. Say increase the guarantee for next season $2 million more than currently offered. Warner should take it!

Done!

I have seen Kurt interviewed. He does not seem upset.

"At some point, Bartelstein said, Warner will “have to decide” if he wants to listen to other teams."

Isn't this one of the oddest comments you've ever heard an agent make during free agency? He might as well shoot himself in the foot as admit his client hasn't even decided to listen to other teams. Isn't the goal to scare the Cardinals into thinking they might lose him to another team? Kurt has said he will re-sign or retire. I believe him.

I can't believe Warner will retire because he can't accept $10M per year contract. He has a pretty big ego if so...

His agent was on Jurecki just now and he seeme really upbeat about the situation, giving Cards , Graves, and Wiz all kinds of love. Even mentioned that it is taking longer because of the Super Bowl made the real negotiations start late. It was an oddly upbeat interview.
