BA going to be on CBS football broadcasts. Hope they have plenty of bars of Ivory soap ready (that's what got shoved in my mouth when I let fly with the language that I heard from Dad, Grandpa, and my Uncles) and the censor bleep button hotwired and ready.
"Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. My personal preference was for Lux, but I found Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heady, but with just a touch of mellow smoothness. Life Buoy, on the other hand...yech!!!!"

"In the heat of battle my father wove a tapestry of obscenities that as far as we know is still hanging in space over Lake Michigan."

Your post just reminded me of Ralphie saying swear words(the F--- in particular).

Of all things BA's in game IQ is the most impressive thing IMO. I doubt it will translate to boith. Nothing but the best to BA as he charts a new phase in his football career.

The first time I saw 'Christmas Story' I had terrible flashbacks to curse words and bars of soap---I was in Ralphie's position plenty of times. I imagine there are others on this forum that got the same treatment. Or at least they should have.

From all indications, BA never ran into that hurdle as a child and was free to take his vocabulary to new heights. Wonder how his humor and his story-telling is going to change now that he's on national TV? It should be great. A little like "Larry the Cable guy" with plenty of football knowledge and tall tales to bleep about.

So we will never see him call any of our games because we are stuck with garbage fox and the ******** half of the Barber twins. Cool.

No. He didn't become a HC until late in his career.

Cue up the Dire Straits song 'Money of Nothing' which is what BA will have to do to get paid for talking about football. He'd probably do it for free if they let him. They just have to turn him loose and let him talk.

Well now, I see you weren't given the bar of soap treatment as a child.

Money for Nothing (and chicks for free). I like the money idea but I'm no farmer so I'll pass on the chicks.

It looks like Lifeboy soap is still on the market so you might want to give it a taste. :D

Wow, I haven't thought of Lifebuoy in years. I grew up with 4 brothers and we were only allowed to use Lava Soap. And I mean only, there was no such thing as shampoo in the boys bathroom. My mom used Lifebuoy and we were all jealous. It's not fun scrubbing your scalp with Lava.

I think the soap used in "A Christmas Story" was Lifeboy if my memory is correct. I have vague recollections of using using a red soap which I now believe to be the same brand.

Didn't have to directly taste it... the suds left plenty of taste in my mouth. Yikes!

Edit: I never used Lava soap as a child but I have as an adult. Doesn't this have pumice or something in it?

After watching 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' I switched to Juicy Fruit Chewing gum. It tastes better and you can stick it on your bedpost overnight and it won't fall off. Try that with Lifeboy and it will fall off and gunk up your pillows.

Forget the scalp. There's more delicate parts to worry about---which is why your Mother kept you boys away from the nice soft Lifeboy soap. She didn't want you getting too serious and inventive with your cleaning procedures. Now you know the rest of the story.

Yes. Lava (from volcanos) contains pumice. It works great if you work on the car and get grease into your skin. Here's the rundown on Lava soap from Wikipedia:

Lava is a heavy-duty hand cleaner, originally produced in soap bar form, developed by the Waltke Company of St. Louis in 1893.[1]

It is currently manufactured by the WD-40 Company, who acquired the brand from Block Drug in 1999, who acquired it from Procter & Gamble in 1995.[2] Unlike typical hand soaps, Lava contains ground pumice, which gave the soap its name. The soap and pumice combination is intended to scour tar, engine grease, paint, dirt, grime, filth, and similar substances from the skin.

Lava soap is currently available in three forms, a red wrapper bar 5.75 ounces (163 g), a bulk count industrial green wrapper bar 4 ounces (110 g), and a liquid form (7.5 oz. pump bottle). The liquid form also contains moisturizers and recently the bar form added moisturizers into its formulation as well. The original Lava (without moisturizers), which was a beige bar, is no longer manufactured.

You're right on the Lifeboy in Christmas Story (Ralphie looks like BA as a kid!):

I hear you, any chick that would want me, I want nothing to do with.

There's an old joke about a banker turned farmer who keeps forcing the feed store to replace the chicks he's purchased as they keep dying on him. Eventually the ex-banker realizes it was his fault, he was planting them too close together. Okay, it probably doesn't work as well as your re-write of a Groucho joke but it's funny to us bankers. :)

Little boy trying to negotiate toys he sees on TV and debates with his Mother on who to blame for his bad behavior:

So, don't blame me, blame my mouth. And whoop your own A** while you're at it.
