That Shipp will see significant playing time as a RB is guaranteed. The days of a "featured back" offensive are gone. Linemen and linebackers are just so much bigger, faster and stronger than ever before......RB's simply take too much of a beating, game by game. If a team doesn't have two "could be starters for any team" RB's, they are dead. I like what each Smith and Shipp bring, talent and attitude wise to the team..............................

As a sidebar, here in Charlotte, The Panthers are saying Stephen Davis looks good in a Panther's uniform. LeShon Foster is also apparently "good to go". Gross and Nelson are signed and Peppars has added size and speed and is raring to go. The Panthers will surprise this year.

I'm starting to think that I've under estimated Emmitt's REAL value to this team. For $3.7MM a year (for the next two years), we are getting one hell of a "playing coach"..........someone who knows how to win, has REAL credibility and leadership and who can teach Shipp/Scobey the ropes "real time". That doesn't happen to teams very often............sort of what Seau brings to the Dolphins (a team that I think is poised to put it alltogether).

It will be interesting to see how Scobey and Anderson battle during training camp.........and Prentice. Could Anderson be "on the bubble"? I'm with otheres in thinking that Bush might become our backup FB. Comella who?

Scott Player..........he sure has produced well for someone with his figure uh? Alas, while we don't need to find room in our salary cap, he is well payed and he will be hard pressed to keep his position against Simnjanovski who should be booming them out of sight in the high altitude of Flagstaff. If Duncan doesn't replace Gramatica, he'll find a home with another team. Maybe Player too.

Oh ya........I can't wait to see our special team play this year. Boy, do we have some "rabbits" that can get downfield in a hurry........tough guys as well. Finally.......................I'll bet that there is a lot of positive vibrations in camp due to Pat Tillman. Now, there's a "team alumni ghost" that you like to have hanging around.

You bring up a good point, and that is the issue of special teams. If we can assemble very good special teams units, and it looks like we may have done that, then we should be able to count on them to win two or three games for us this year. I am especially intrigued with this punter that seems to be putting legitimate pressure on Player. Who is this guy? Can anyone enlighten me?

All I can tell you is that he is named Brian Simnjanovski and he is a rookie from San Diego State. He is listed at 6' 4", 187 lbs. and he's from Escondido, CA. He wears #2.

If its not too much to ask, check out how KVB is looking. I think he's going to have a great season.

I agree with the rookie punter. Sign him if he has a face mask that is in the modern era. Hell Player would probably wear a leather helmet if he could. The Cards ahve a big enough problem with image, getting a punter to wear a "normal" grill would only help.

If Player pins them deep he can wear a fricken mini-skirt for all I care. "Normal" for us is not what we're after. Best man wins regardless of helmet preferance.

...I thought was going to be a J-Lo thread.:D

With all of the linebackers and fast recievers we have on the roster now I hope our special teams will be better. It's one thing to have a bad offense or defense, but when teams can repeatedly return kicks and punts for touchdowns that's just embarrassing. I wish I could be there to see how all of the new guys are doing in camp.
