NBA first round picks are so much different than NFL due to protections and conveying to second round picks.

The Spurs got De'Aron Fox and they got rid of a bad contract with Zach Collins.

They gave up:

2 not high likelihood to be 1st round picks:
• 2025 pick (Bulls original pick with 1-10 protection and then 1-8). Bulls are tanking and this would probably have been a 2nd round pick anyway.
• 2025 first-round pick (Hornets) This one is protected 1-14 in 2025 and will become 2nd round pick in 2026

2 real first round picks
• 2027 first-round pick (Spurs)
• 2031 first-round pick (Timberwolves)

3 second round picks
• 2025 second-round pick (Bulls)
• 2028 second-round pick (Nuggets)
• 2028 second-round pick (their own back from Bulls)

Reading this morning that the Bulls did this to free up playing time for Buzelis and expand minutes for White and Dosunmu. Don't be surprised to see Ball moved too now that he's starting again and up to 25 minutes a game. Could be a sneaky good backup PG for a playoff run. The Bulls want to see what they habe in the young kids. Vucevic is also probably gone.

They held out Lavine last night before the trade and Buzelis had his best game as a pro. We're tanking and letting the kids finally play. 10th seed play in games are getting tiresome.

Literally can't believe the Kings did this. I guess they had to know Fox was serious about not wanting to sign another deal with them so they figured this is the best they could get but man. Zach is a UCLA guy but I've said since college he's a stats guy he doesn't do the stuff that wins games. Terrible defender. Yes he's played with DeRozan before but I'm not a huge Demar fan either and he's on the downside of his career.

Just a couple of years ago they were on the cusp of being really good and it just all fell apart.

I feel sorry for Sabonis it won't surprise me at all if he now wants to get out of there too

The idea of reuniting LaVine and DeRozan being a plus is absolutely hilarious. They accomplished nothing together in Chicago.

The Kings are a horribly run franchise. Them teaming up with the Bulls (an equally horribly ran team) to help out the Spurs (a well ran team) does not shock me.

The Kings can't stay out of their own way. Vivek is a rich but stupid meddling owner.

@Ishbia... don't make me think you're Vivek in a few years. Please.

Does cp3's semi/quasi corpse fall off the books soon, and does it put them under the 2nd apron?

I think he's on a min contract and they are well under the apron, they are not even sniffing the luxury tax.

Also, CP3 is playing well for them, they are kickin butt when he is on the court, but they're limiting his minutes, wisely.
