This is the frustrating thing, BidRedArk...had the Cardinals found a LT in free agency...AP might be donning the Cardinal red right now.

But...let's face it too...this year's market for LTs was about as thin as it gets. This is just the way it goes. I think we should be thankful that the Cardinals were able to draft a LT of Levi Brown's caliber...this guy should be able to start right away.

And there's a lot to be said about coaches meaning what they say. Whiz has said all along he is building a physical style of offense...Levi Brown is a big, physical LT...the words and the music match here. Hooray for that!

Yeah we seem to be thin at RB though. RB may (perish the thought) turn out to be a need pick if Edge get nicked up or hurt. We need to get a RB somewhere this draft I feel like.

That pick for me is Kenny Irons. A good value pick in the third of he lasts that long and a developmental back to give Edge a breather. In my opinion he is the best back after AP.

You can't go into a season with Shipp as your number 2 back IMO.

I love the guys heart but not his play. JJ behind a good line, well that's interesting to me.

Or how about Michael Bush? Could last until the third round also, and if so would be a steal.

Behind Joe Thomas and Jake Long, probably the two best tackles in the nation.
Keep spinning.

Rod Graves' lack of a contingency plan killed us as we again picked for need and not BPA. Levi Brown would've been there at #15. Today is just another notch in the Rod Graves belt of incompetence.

no, he's not....he's barely over 200 lbs and is NOT a power back like Carnell or Brown

the pick for RB by the Cards should be:

Tony Hunt, Michael Bush, Kolby Smith, DeShawn Wynn

possibly Chris Henry, or a huge darkhorse.....Nate Ilaoa of Hawaii

The "so called experts" didn't hate this pick at all. ESPN said it was what we had to do, and they didn't moan and groan on this pick like they did with the Ginn pick at 10.

This was a solid pick. I personally would have liked Peterson, but we had to address the line situation. Now we can go out and take the BPA the rest of the way.

Michael Smith, a well respected reporter, said that if Brown was availlable at 8 the Falcons were taking him. Talk about spinning

Maybe now that he has gone to a team with a good RB and Oline situation. However he might be like ruined for his entire career because Stoops overused him and when you are spending that much money on a guy thats a huge ass risk

AP on field turf could turn out to be more of a risk for Minny than us with him on a grass field.

You are the one spinning...

You point out that Levi Brown was a 2nd Team All Big Ten...

But...did you know that he was an All-American in 2005 and 2006? These a pretty good creds.

And I guarantee you that Brown would have been off the board at #8 (Atlanta) or #9 (Miami). Both teams were coveting him.

There were two tackles in this draft who can start right away: Joe Thomas and Levi Brown. The Cards got one of them. We should be happy.

Pro Football Weekly's Take:

5. Arizona Cardinals — OT Levi Brown, Penn State Levi Brown is a mauler who perfectly fits OL coach Russ Grimm’s style of play. He is a big, physical, dominating mauler who could re-establish the line of scrimmage and create running lanes for Edgerrin James where there were none a year ago. After letting Leonard Davis walk in free agency, the Cardinals needed to replace him and Brown could step in at right tackle and protect Matt Leinart’s blind side. Brown’s footwork and technique needs a lot of massaging, but with Grimm in Arizona, expect Brown to make huge strides in a short amount of time. Although this pick might seem rich for the slot right now like Jammal Brown did two years ago when the Saints selected him 13th overall, I expect Brown will be competing for a spot in the Pro Bowl in a relatively short time. Grimm is one of the best offensive line coaches in the league, if not the best, and he has all the clay he needs in Brown to mold him into an elite talent.

Pro Football Weekly's Take:

I agree with their take except for some of Grimms coaching ability. I agree he will teach Brown the run blocking skills needed right away, but Grimm hasnt taught a single OL to be a good pass blocker any better then they were in college since he has been an OL coach in this league. Its his biggest weakness by far.

All playres are a risk. We have Edge Shipp and JJ at RB. Edge won't get hurt this year right?

Would you be happy with Ross and Gandy starting at Tackle?

I won't argue with the fact that prospects are all a risk. The draft has shown that year after year. The problem facing teams like ours is that they have to spend a bunch of money on a player and if red flags come up like Peterson's injury history then it is hard to pull the trigger

We couldn't have gotten a decent OT in the 2nd or 3rd huh?

bottom line almost every analyst agrees that you draft TALENT in the top 5, not need. That being said Peterson was #3 on the big board and should of been taken or we should have traded down.

Gambo and Ash drew a good point in saying nobody in the league respects graves and all try to low ball him so no deals get done. So then we reach (levi was going to go 10-12). Horrible Horrible pick

In this draft class - NO. This a good draft for interior lineman but not for offensive tackles

Reaching for Brown at #5 was plain dumb. You take an impact player at 5. AP is impact. He could have stretched the field for us and putting the opposing D on their heels more likely perhaps. Like joe said Grimm has never taught a player to be a good pass protector. Brown already knows how to run block. Picking Brown could very well turn out to be a major blunder if Edge gets hurt this year (perish the thought).

AP can't make an impact if he can't get past the line. Peterson wouldn't have done anything for us this year.

These are the same two guys who went on for hours Friday night with a theme of "The Cardinals are stoopid if they take Adrian Peterson"...
