I have a horrible feeling Fitz and M Williams are going to go 1 2 in this draft. Then who would you take?

From what DG said on epsn last night I think DG would have taken Fitz or M Williams. I think he was hoping SD would take Eli he implied as much. The next day they are shopping Boston.

I don't think DG believes in taking either Eli or Ben #1 from the way he talked about Brady Delhome Bulger etc.

He wanted a stud WR at #3 for his 3 WR offense and as a difference maker.

Now what.

1. Take Ben or Eli.
Doubtful. He specifically spoke against the Saviour QB theory MAYBE SD was listening :(

2. Take BPA that is either Taylor or Gallery. Not a bad choice. But that means its BPA WR at #33.

3. Get a trade down. Take BPA WR at the trade down spot or just BPA which might be a DT say Wilfork.

4. This is why he was training Wilson at CB just in case Fitz and M Williams did go 1 2.

5. This really puts a crimp in his plans regarding the offense passing game.

6. The defense could be upgraded. But how much can a S upgrade and influence a defence? Maybe move Taylor to CB (What do you guys think of that is that possible?)

7. Maybe do a trade down along the lines of getting Eli to Cleveland for Northcutt and then grabbing a Wilfork?

I would trade down with Manning and Ben still sitting there and then I would Draft Sean Taylor somewhere between 5 and 7!

How is this bad news? I don't want to draft either of those guys if they are available.

Shane I doubt Taylor makes it past Det or Wash. If you want Taylor I think you have to take him at 3.

@$$face I am just going by what I think would be bad news for DG. From what he said on espn it sounded like he was leaning towards Fitz and M Williams. He also included Eli as a #1 pick but then dismissed the notion of taking QBs #1.

Heck I could be wrong this espn stuff might have been a con job and he wanted Eli all along. But the arguements he made against taking a QB #1 suggest otherwise.

Maybe if it is a conjob he wants Eli to drop to #3 so he can trade down. Remember DG had several drafts in MIN when he had 2 picks in the first round. This is a deep draft maybe he wants to add player Northcutt? and maybe another 2 and still get a BPA like a top DT or CB maybe.

If this happens, Green will trade down a few spots and land Roy Williams

Was Roy Williams one of DG's blue chippers?

I am just not sold on him. Strikes me like a B Johnson clone.

If they trade down I would rather get an Andrews (massive RT) or Wilfork (legit 2 gap DT).

I would not take Harris he is a 1 gap DT (not a priority).

Maybe even grab a CB (you can never have too many good CBs) or how about UDEZE to play the other side.

Think about this line:

Berry, Bryant(or whoever), #2/#3DT, Udeze

That could be scary good.

I think at #33 you can get a WR who will be as good as R Williams.

Yes, Roy was a blue-chipper. I think he's the forgotten man in the draft because of the focus is on Fitz and MW. If they trade down Roy could be an option, but like you I would take Wilfolk in that case, since he fills the biggest need.

Good debate, I have the same concerns that both Mike Williams and Fitzgerald could go 1 -2 in the draft. If so I think he will trade down a few spots and either take Taylor or Roy Williams. He could also take Gallery and draft a wr with the first pick on round 2. Remember he has drafted OTs on the first round in the past and both made it to the pro bowl (Todd Steusse and Kory Stringer). IF Gallery is BPA and no good trade offers, he will pick him.

My guess is if the WRs are gone at 3 then its either Manning or Gallery. DG might want the receivers but he's said he'll take the BPA. And I'd be willing to bet its going to be YEARS before Graves is going to make another trade down. :D

I think your all wrong? Williams or Fitz will be there at #3.. I honestly think the SD or Oak will trade their picks so some team can jump up and take one of the QB's, leaving Williams/Fitz their at #3. I just have a feeling that there is a team that will jump on a trade with one of the top 2 teams for a chance at Eli.. I can see that is SD stays and doesnt take Eli, Oak will be bombarbed with trad offers, and take one of them..

I would love to have either one.. Fitz would be great with his personal relationship with Green, and M. Williams so even more upside than Fitz does IMO.. both would be excellent deep threats..

on my draft wish list for the cardinals at the #3 pick...I wanted Eli at first...Then I figured he would be gone - and was hoping for sean taylor....now I changed my mind again (surprise)....Gallery. Cut clement and put gallery in...yea yea...we have too much $$ on the oline...but the right side is so freaking weak right now (clement and an unknown guard) that the entire offense is questionable...

This means we should sign dez white and Rudd (should be able to if clement is cut - cap wise - not sure on this)...

Historically...I could have argued that we have too many huge underachieving olineman....and that perhaps we should use the denver model (lower touted smaller guys)...but that is a risky strategy - and I think green drafted at least two olineman (both tackles) in round one..Korey Stringer (spelling?) and Todd Stussie...so it is not beyond the realm of possibility - and factor in what the staff must be seeing if they sit and watch film of clement last season..

opn the receiver thing...I would like one veteran (perhaps dez white) and I want to give Bryant Johnson one more season....and their would be a decent wr available in round two (very deep in draft)

This is the only scenario where......

we trade down.I see only a few teams that would consider trading up to get a "franchise QB", that being the Steelers, 49ers, Dolphins, Cowboys, and Packers. Maybe the Bills too.
I love Fitzgerald, however, If we were to swap 1st round picks with the steeler and get their 2nd and 4th round picks, that would be very hard to pass up only because we could still get a super wide receiver(you fill in the name). There wern't so many quality wr's in this years draft that it's hard not to think about trading down, even if Fitz and Williams are available at #3.

SD will not use their #1 pick on a WR.....even if they trade Boston away. With the depth of WR this year, they can still get a good one with their 2nd round pick (for that matter so could we). The thing is that Gallery is a REAL POSITION OF NEED......AND I MEAN REAL for them and while they might cringe at the prospect of paying #1 money to a OLT they will get over it.......after all OLT's are starting to become the highest paid position as evidenced by the Tait signing in Chicago. Gallery is in a league of his own and will become John Ogden good within his first two years.

We should trade down to #8 through a series of trades. That way we can load up on draft picks and, since Denny thinks that there are 8 blue chippers in the draft, we don't need to think about who we pick. We'll still end up with an impact player that we need.

Exactly, especially if 2 WRs go first.

Swap with NY so that they can take Gallery, and then entertain trades for Manning at 4.

Get somewhere around 8 and take you pick of Udeze, R. Williams, Wilfork, or whoever.

With very few MAJOR hole to fill, we could really do quite nicley in this draft.
