It's kind of the heart of football, bro. Teams need to figure out a way to stop it.
Yeah… I don’t get banning it. It’s smash mouth football. Doesn’t seem like there’s anything illegal. It’s about as Mano-a-Mano as the sport gets and just because one team’s perfected it, shouldn’t mean they should be penalized for it, IMO.

The "tush push play" should be banned. It was no fun watching the Eagles-Commanders Championship game and seeing this constantly used by the Eagles and their QB Hurts. Sorry but IMO this is not football.

The simple answer is that if a ball carrier is touched by another offensive player and the ball carrier is still in the behind the line of scrimmage, the player is considered down at the original touch point.

Immediately destroys the brotherly shove

Agreed - if a defensive person can't use another defensive person for leverage on a kick, why is the offense allowed to do the same?

I agree with Cheese. It is up to defenses to stop it. It is difficult to run, and no team is really good at it other than Philly, and they are not as good since Kelcy retired.

No but they need to officiate it properly. The Eagles keeping lining up with multiple OL in the neutral zone when they run it, illegal formation should be called every single time.

Buffalo was so stupid on their attempts. They should have watched the defense line up to stop it and pulled back at the last moment to run a sweep or some other play to the outside. As a fan watching at home, I could tell they stood no chance of getting into the end zone if they went with the push play.

I'm waiting for some guy to his leg broke in two while facing one way and getting pushed another, but so is the sport. As far as it being unfair, the other team should have never let the opposing offense get that close when all it takes is a push

That's the way it always was. Only recently was the tush push made legal.

The thing is, the push seems to be a planned play.

I don't understand why this isn't a penalty.

It didn't even appear necessary on this play.

They need to either ban it or remove the ban on it from the defense. I think this video covers what @Dback Jon was getting at above and highlights why.

I think a kick is a totally different play.

It’s not like the defense can’t also have guys slamming into the backs of their guys upfront to try and push the offense back.

The NFL Rules Committee determined whether to ban it last off season. They decided not to because there was no clear injury risk. It has always been legal.
No, until recently it was illegal to assist in the forward progress of another player.

I wouldn't want it banned, but I think that the defense should be allowed to leap over the O-line like the Commanders tried to do or something else that doesn't egregiously break a rule. The defense has a tough enough job as it is.

They’re not going to ban something that only one team truly has success with it. Hell, Buffalo with Josh Allen made it look impossible to convert.
Funny thing is, I heard on the radio that they (Buffalo) were 28/30 with it before this game. The Chefs did something to stop it. You have to hand it to Spags for a masterclass on D.
