I've noticed a pattern that the farther in advance a movie is advertised, the worse it tends to be.

Ha! In 1993 there was an "Earring Magic" Ken that quickly got labeled the gay Ken Doll because it appeared to accidentally fit every single early-'90s gay stereotype. After some uproar, production was quickly halted and remaining inventory at retail was recalled. Does your wife have one of these? They are worth some $$ now.

What is interesting is that this was going to be a totally different movie when Amy Schumer was attached. Knowing her type of humor and where she wanted to go with it I think was too much for the studio. The PR reason was scheduling but she indicated it was creative differences. This version of the movie is completely different. The wife is seeing this with my daughter. I can't bring myself to see this I don't think. We shall see. The Schumer version I would have jumped at.

In my own limited universe, this might be the most successfully marketed movie of all time.

From where I was when I first heard about this idea to where I am now is a vast canyon to traverse.

"You couldn't pay me to see this", has become, I will likely pay to see this (stupid) movie, and I suspect I will enjoy it.
