Some of you are so sensitive. This was perfect by Barkely. They stink and deserve every bit of this.

Who deserves it? I'm going out on a limb and saying that a lot of our players do NOT deserve this. Devin Booker? TJ? Even Archie, who I don't like but deserves some kudos for his play, however much a mirage it is.

No they and everyone associated with the organization deserves to be mocked and ridiculed for allowing our best players along with several other rotation players to be injured. At first, I just thought the organization deserved a mildly harsh review for failing to put together a team capable of moving beyond mediocrity but Chuck and the others here have shown me the light.

I don't understand the vitriol and derision being sent the Suns' way by Barkley, the media, the fans, and everyone else.

This is what tanking and rebuilding looks like. The problem isn't that we're losing, it's just that it's five years overdue.
You just answered your own question. Why the derision? Because it is five years overdue. And, as you said, it is pretty unanimous -- Barkley, the media, the fans and everyone else. That is quite a telling statement.

The Suns have been a team without a plan, other than multi lead Guards each of whom (understandably) wants to be "The Man" and neither of whom (regardless of the many combinations they've tried) is a skilled facilitator or shooter.

We are a team dependent upon our Guards and they have not made us a better team. Happily, there is one ray of hope -- Devin Booker. Even if the Suns leave him as our starting Shooting Guard as others return from injury, it will take more than that.

Hopefully, the tanking will provide a second ray of hope. And it will still take more than that, considering that some of our key players have had recurring bouts with injuries.

Simply put, the Suns lack of chemistry (which reflects an inferior ownership and management team) has caused a weak offense (too many turnovers) and a weak defense. Both aspects of a successful basketball team.

Barkley is ridiculous, last year he was ripping on the Suns for being mediocre and not tanking, now he is killing them for tanking.

He is an entertainer, he was doing his job, but it was complete hypocrisy based on the statements he has made in recent years.

That was hilarious. You could even hear the production crew and camera men laughing their butts off.

Or possibly he is ripping on Sarver for taking five years to tank.

Point 1: ASFN posters are!

Point 2: He is not ripping on "the Suns" (which would include the players, the fans, the community). He is ripping on the small town banker who fashions himself an NBA expert. And who recently insulted every player in the NBA, including his own.

Barkley is outrageous and Sarver is limited. 'Sounds like 2016 politics, doesn't it?

OH yeah. Start serving cold cheese with Nachos. Call em a Chuck special.

Too funny. I was dying laughing watching this. Notice that Shaq didn't say much at all either

I thought it was funny. Have to have a sense of humor. He was obviously making light of a bad situation but man...there is some truth to what he was saying.

If I were Suns management I would schedule nacho night immediately, hand out free "the cheese is cold" tshirts, add tcic nachos to the shops and add jalapeno nachos.

Except it clearly isn't what he is doing. There is nothing in what he said that remotely implies that this is something overdue and they should be ripped for waiting too long. No, he is killing them for tanking, he is doing it too entertain, because it's funny, but he is still a massive hypocrite.

Is he? I am not so sure he convinced that's what the Suns are doing. It sounded like to me he is inferring the Suns do just enough to get by. Nachos with cold cheese. Popcorn but stale. Enough talent to get some W's but not really compete for a title.

Then he should have made that argument when its what they were actually doing, as it was from about 2011-the first month of this year. Right now they're tanking, without question, and its something Barkley has strongly advocated previously.

I have heard him make similar statements in interviews. So, I guess that's why I am assuming this is just more of the same. Plus this is a little of pointing out the obvious how bad the team is. It's probably both IMO. I don't put much stock in Chuck thinking before he speaks.

Steve Nash takes a different position:

http://arizonasports.com/story/551724/former-sun-steve-nash-not-trashing-his-former-franchise/

Thursday night, three prominent former members of the Phoenix Suns — including the only two players to ever win league MVP awards for the franchise — sat on a panel, talking about basketball.

Steve Nash joined fellow former Suns Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley, along with TNT’s Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson, for a segment from Toronto, home of this weekend’s NBA All-Star festivities.

The topic of discussion turned to the Suns when Barkley inquired if Nash had any interest in taking over the Suns’ head coaching position.

“Why don’t you jump on that grenade,” Barkley asked, drawing a smile from Nash.

“Of course,” Nash said. “All of us who played for the organization have a lot of love for them — the fans, we had a great connection with the fans in Phoenix. So to see them struggle is tough.

“But, you know, this league is cyclical. Sometimes your biggest lessons come from when you’re down. We’ll keep our fingers crossed and we’ll see if they can turn this thing around.”

“The thing about Phoenix is I think there’s about 20 teams in this league that are in the same boat as them,” he said. “Only one or two things happen, you change your fortunes, and then, all of a sudden, the next ten years look bright.”

He has been ripping them for not tanking, for being mediocre, now they're tanking and he is killing them for it. That is my point, he rips them to rip them, he ripped them when Nash was here competing for titles. He is inconsistent in his reasoning and hypocritical.

he's ripping them for being an embarrassment, which they are. I mean, this wasn't even really tanking... this was ACCIDENTAL tanking this year. They actually thought this roster was going to be GOOD.

rather they suck on purpose or not is not the issue. even if fully healthy they would not be very good,...and this has been the case for years now...

somebody needs to be publicly embarrassed for it, and hopefully it does some good.... the team was not put together by rolling a 20 sided die,..it was assembled by professionals who are supposed to know what they are doing.
since this jerk bought the team they have been resoundingly mediocre

Barkley can be a real jerk but the surprising thing is how clueless he is about his former profession and how willing some people are to overlook his cluelessness. His latest "Curry is nothing more than a great shooter" comment is further evidence that his ego rules his mouth and blinds him to reality.
