Jetstream, wouldn't hate it. Shazier can play inside and the GA Tech guy could be groomed behind Abraham for a year. And both should be good Special Team players.

That is why they are going to draft just like my mock for the Cardinals... Shazier and then Attaochu :grabs:

Wish the Cards would have drafted QB U. Rico instead of the Cowpies. That guy could throw the ball over a mountain and would have won state if only the coach put him into the game. He had pinpoint accuracy and could hit a moving receiver in the face with a piece of steak. Dedicated player who filmed his own practice sessions and had great movement in the pocket to escape pressure.

Take 2013 for example.

Arizona had selected running back Stepfan Taylor in the fifth round, and when they found themselves on the clock for a second time in the sixth round, sitting atop the Cardinals draft board was another running back, Andre Ellington. Because they had committed to their philosophy of following the board, the Cards went with Ellington. It seemed to have worked out for the better.

“A lot of times, if emotion played into it, you’d say, ‘Well, we already took the back,’” Keim said. “The good thing is we had those conversations and we knew we couldn’t pass on Andre because of his grade.”

As great a pick that Ellington was, you have to wonder if the team is still as high on Taylor that warranted him being taken first with a higher grade at the time. They did sign Dwyer who has a similar skill set.

I guess, K-9, our resident human resource manager, would have opposed the Ellington pick as a misuse of resources. ;)

We are going to carry 4 backs. Taylor and Dwyer are compliments, and hopefully Williams can be Ellington's.

I have so much more faith in this FO compared to the past that it's not funny.

I'm really excited to who we draft. And then find out about the players to see why the FO liked them.

If SK left and they hired someone named, oh say Ron Fergeson, it would them have to be BARF.

We need to get Uncle Rico's time machine, and fix the draft lol

Some real good insight here. Interesting about not caring if you picked the same position the round before

I'm not sure how far he's willing to go with that philosophy. What if, say, the BPA at all our picks this year is a QB? Are we going to draft 6 QBs because each of them was the top guy on our board? That would be sheer stupidity.

Not to be taken to, to literally. But, having taken a RB in the 5th last year, didn't prevent taking Ellington in the 6th.

I agree with this. There is no such thing as strict BPA in the draft. Many teams have taken a couple of players at the same position in one draft for instance Skillet Hands and Boldin in 2003. Coleman and Dye back to back in '93. Heck Denny took 2 Centers in the great 2004 draft. So that is no big deal.

But that is nowhere near the same as taking 6 CBs or 7 RBs because they were the BPA at the time the team selected.

I think if you ask SK if he would take 7 CB's in a single draft his answer would be no. Now the odds of a CB being the BPA in more than 2 or 3 rounds are about the same as hitting the lottery so I'm not sure why we are having this discussion. :)
