This could be a special year for the Cats.

Also, Archie Miller on Mark Lyons.

Dayton coach Archie Miller coached against Xavier and Mark Lyons last season and is anticipating that his brother, Arizona coach Sean Miller, is getting quite an impact player. “He’s a winner,’’ said Miller of the Xavier transfer who is eligible immediately. “He’s a nasty competitor. They’re getting a first-team all-conference, Pac-12 player. He’ll be one of the best guards in the conference. He’s got a chance to be a 15-points or more a game player. It was a dramatic change once he arrived. He was a nightmare to prepare for at Xavier. Lucky (Sean Miller).’’

Really excited about the Cats this year. They're setup to have a phenomenal 2-3 year run if these freshmen live up to the hype.

The way Miller is recruiting, every year expectations will be high.

This year is interesting it now looks to me like you actually do have a chance at Aaron Gordon. I didn't believe he was going anywhere but UW but then he visited Cal, and then the official to Kansas past weekend, which I frankly expected he'd cancel.

That tells me he's actually not locked in and if he's not, UA has a real chance. Several ex AAu teammates, good AAU pipeline and UW could be in a for dropoff this year.

Hope the 1988 team(Elliott & Kerr) and Lute talk to Gordon this weekend during the Red/Blue game.

So you want your team to commit a recruiting violation? Ex players can't recruit, don't you remember the hubbub when Shabazz visited UA and Miller called Derrick Williams and handed the phone to Shabazz? Shabazz told reporters and shortly after UA had the NCAA calling.

They ultimately decided Williams was still a current player, by a couple of days(finals weren't over) so it was no violation. Shortly after they dropped UA off the list for awhile before adding them back, the rumor was the dad was upset that UA nearly committed a violation.

Sounds kind of ironic now given Shabazz hasn't cleared.

Yep and if Shabazz is suspended it will be the dads fault but that was the rumor they were ticked off that Miller didn't know if it was allowable or not to call Williams when he did it.

Back to Gordon did you see the Shiver story about him? I've been telling the UA fans on the scout boards this for awhile but many didn't believe me. The dad says they want him to go to a school that will play him as a 2/3 hybrid. He can play the 4 or 5 yes but he's not a post and we want him to play 2/3, he played PG when younger.

Very talented kid but just let the coach figure out where your son should play. It's why I ultimately think he goes to UW, Romar has known the dad for years and the dad will trust Romar to play him where they want him to. With a less stacked roster it will be easier to give him enough time there to make them happy. Where at UA or UK or Kansas the coach isn't going to have that luxury because of other talent.

Hes going to be shocked when he gets to college, because no coach is going to use him as a 2. He might get some burn at the 3, but hes a PF through and through.

Here is the intro to the Red/Blue game. This should get you pumped for basketball season. Ashley and Jerrett are going to be big contributors from the freshmen class and Lyons is a stud. Btw, !4,500 showed up.

Awesome.. my firm has tickets for recruiting and I take one of my clients every year -- should I try for Florida or UCLA this year? 2 years ago we went to UW game (game of the year) and last year we went to UCLA game (maybe game of the year, if not close)... so expectations are high!! :D

Can't go wrong with either. The UCLA game is this year's white-out game.

Was that Gabe York dunking over two players? One of which was Chol? Serious hops.
