I can't believe you guys are reminiscing fondly about Boxey and Muffit. They were the worst part of the series, especially the fake dog. I do miss the original cylons though, until the lawsuit they were pretty cool. However, even allowing for the era, the original Galactica series had pretty weak special effects. The new BSG, when they decided to actually have a little action, did an excellent job on effects IMO.

As for Lost, I didn't finish it either. I watched the first few seasons and I really enjoyed the show but I got tired of the stupid waiting game they made us play. I'll probably go back and watch the series when the boredom of today's shows drives me to it (shouldn't be much longer).

Because I was a little kid who liked Muffit? :)

And the Cylons are dumb enough to think the Raptor is a cylon ship because it is carrying a smoke detector?

Now that is brilliant!!!

That's no excuse, I was a kid when it came out too. I couldn't have been more than 23 or 24 at the time. And, yeah, that was a classic camouflage job - ranks right up there with somebody putting on cheap glasses and fooling a world.

You were 23 or 24 during the run of the original BSG? No wonder you hate Boxey and Muffit.

That would be like me waxing poetic about Space Rangers, so you make a good point.

Perhaps if we were to reminiscence about Johnny Quest, Haji, and Bandit we'd find something a little closer to your heart?

Starbuck was a decent character but why is she swinging an arrow at a cylOn, what is that going to do, bruise it?

And Starbuck is a bad ass at times, but she appears to know as much about martial arts as I do. That fight with number 6 was awkward at best.

My wife made me turn off the show because it was making me angry.

You're getting closer but more like Quick Draw McGraw, Yacky Doodle, Lost In Space, Bugs Bunny and Get Smart. My son was 3 years old when the original Battlestar Galactica came out so I understand the fascination with Muffit. Also, as a dad, I had a built-in excuse to watch all that stuff that probably belongs to your generation.

Yep. Are you going to say I am trolling as well? Just posting my thoughts as I watched the first season.

Hmm, never said anything about trolling, it's just you've spent the last 3 pages of this thread saying how much you dislike the show. Maybe you subconsciously DO like it and just can't get enough? Maybe wanting to be convinced to continue watching... ;)

I did want to keep watching. I really did. :). I will stop terrorizing CM and Donald now though.

So, we started chugging along with these again.

I have to admit, I was excited when I saw the title of the season 2.0 finale ("Pegasus"). That was one of my favorite episodes from the original series.

Mind you, I really thought that there wasn't anything else that could be fraked up with the transition from old to new...then this happened:

They used Michelle Forbes as Admiral Kane!

OMG!

Kane was played by Lloyd Bridges in the original...why does SciFi insist on fraking with my mind!

I have heard tons of good things about the remake of the Battlestar Galactica series. I very much would like to watch it. When looking up the series they seem to have some movies, .5 season, miniseries etc... What is the exact order of everything that I should watch it all in?

I don't think there's any challenge to seeing it in it's correct order. IIRC, the initial 2 part miniseries was wrapped into season one on both the box set and the Netflix offering (regardless, watch the miniseries first). Note though that even though there are a lot of good things about the show, many of us felt it had some huge drawbacks too. For myself (and my wife), it was a great show for the first season and part of the second and then went rapidly downhill. We hated much of the rest of the series until it reached the series end where it closed as strongly as it began. It's worth seeing but even the staunchest fans struggled through stretches of this show.

How do the two movies 'Razor' and 'The Plan' factor in?

Are 2.5 and 4.5 the only .5 seasons?

I forgot about The Plan, I never really considered it part of the show. The Razor was another 2 part episode that started either the 3rd or 4th season, I forget which one. The point I was trying to make though is if you get access to it either through buying the box set or watching it on Netflix you'll automatically get the episodes in their proper order. The show was always on the verge of being cancelled and that plus a mid-season hiatus led to the confusion you're talking about.

I am renting them from the library which doesn't have the box set, just the individual seasons and movies, thus the need to get my ducks in a row :)

Makes sense. I still think you'll be okay just watching the seasons in order. You might miss The Plan but you can always watch it after you've completed the seasons. It really isn't part of the series, they should have called it The Plan to Try and Cash In.
