Battlestar Galactica Season Finale Gets Bigger
Source: SCI FI Channel
February 2006

The season two finale of SCI FI Channel's critically-acclaimed original series Battlestar Galactica will be its biggest episode ever. "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2" will be presented as a special 90-minute television event on Friday, March 10, 2006 @ 10pm-11:30pm ET/PT.

In true Galactica-style, the expanded season finale cliffhanger is sure to leave viewers wanting more. Up to this point, the last remnants of humanity have been on the run from the Cylons and searching for a mythical planet called Earth. They have been led by President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), a woman whom many believe is the chosen prophet of human scripture, and Admiral William Adama (Edward James Olmos), a retired war hero forced back into service after the Cylons' near-genocide of the human race.

Now, with the presidential campaigning in full swing, the election's outcome hinges upon a core debate - whether or not to abandon the search for Earth when the Galactica crew discovers a habitable planet. When the election begins to swing in favor of Baltar (James Callis) - a man whom Roslin is convinced is a Cylon collaborator - the incumbent president must decide whether or not to take drastic measures for the greater good. Things become even further complicated when the Cylons, led by Caprica Six (Tricia Helfer) and Sharon (Grace Park), find the planet and offer humanity a stunning proposal of peace.

The 90-minute 'Battlestar' finale will follow the season finales of SCI FI's other hit original series, Stargate SG-1 (8pm) and Stargate Atlantis (9pm).

Production on season three of Battlestar Galactica will begin in April in Vancouver, with Lucy Lawless joining the cast for a 10-episode arc.

Just finished Season 1...

Good lord, that was amazing...simply amazing.

The final episode, at the end, when someone shoots someone....I jumped, was totally not expecting that.

Wow, what a great first season, I'm already ordering Season 2.0.

I think that's going a bit too far, there are great shows out there...but I agree, it is brilliant.

Yup, it was pretty good.

I wasn't expecting that ending. But that's what makes this show so great.

*****Spoilers alert*****

I finally got to finish the whole thing.

One problem though, what happened the last few minutes of the last episode. For some reason the TIVO cut off the last 5 minutes. The last thing I saw was the Galactica jump away from the planet. What happened after that. Thanks in advance.

SPOILERS:

Pegasus and Galactica jumped away, and the Cylons came down to the planet. Baltar was in his "palace" with the three women and his advisors when the Cylons came into his room. The Sharron Cylon, the blonde haired women (whose name is escaping me) Cylon, and the male Cylon, along with several of the machines, confronted Baltar. Baltar looked like he was going to pee his pants. He asked how they had found them, and the Cylons replied that they picked up a nuclear explosion. Baltar looked at the blonde woman and said something like "I know you" in which she replied that "we know you, Guyas." The Cylons told him to surrender and nobody would be hurt. Baltar complied, and surrendered.

At the very last scene, Starbuck, Col. Tigh, the Chief and Kelli, and some of the other "regulars" were standing outside, watching as all these Cylon machines are being unloaded and marching through their camp. The Chief turns to Starbuck and goes "What do we do now?" Starbuck replies, "Same thing we always do. Fight em' till we can't."

And that was it. Hope this helps.

Okay, so I haven't read any of your spoilers about the finale this season...But I just finished watching Download which goes back to the Cylons on Caprica...and wow, I was blown away.

This show just got better after some so-so mid-season episodes.

Looks like the next two are the two-part season finale...i cannot wait!

It's a good show for sure. Ron Moore didn't take the charachters in directions that i would have preferred but it is his show. Besides, keeps me guessing.

There are doing some sort of Season 2 recap soon, new season begins early in October.

I have to decide if I'm okay being a month behind and seeing it in HD on UHD, or watching them on SciFI :)

Maybe DTV will have HD SCIFI by then.
