West Virginia has an automatic berth thanks to winning the Big East.

Illinois is in because the Rose Bowl has a hard-on for Big 10/Pac 10 matchups.

As much as ASU not getting into a BCS game pisses me off, Mizzu has alot bigger gripe. They finish higher than KU, beat KU on a neutral field....but KU gets into a BCS game

Final BCS standing
1. Ohio State
2. LSU
3. Virginia Tech
4. Oklahoma
5. Georgia
6. Missouri
7. Southern California
8. Kansas
9. West Virginia
10. Hawaii

Agreed, they should have done the right thing and given it to Missouri instead of Illinois. Purists be damned. USC will roll Illinois.

The whole list is idiotic. The BCS is all about politics and MONEY. Calling the winner of the "Championship" game the national champion is a joke.

There is no national champion in 1A college football!

Can't have three teams from one conference.

Getting screwed is nothing new for the Pac-10, although part of that is our own fault due to Pac-10 teams not traveling well.

Another reason why the BCS is a joke.

Yeah I knew that, but as I was watching it I couldn't believe they were gonna stick to that rule. If a team is deserving, then so be it.

I just don't understand how those guys sleep at night picking Illinois over Missouri.

Once again, a playoff is the right thing to do. LSU, USC and Oklahoma are playing the best ball right now. Georgia, Mizzou, WV and maybe even Hawaii could pull an upset. Kansas and Illinois are a joke. VT and Ohio state are borderline.

This system has to go.

By the rules that the schools themselves agreed upon, only two teams per conference. Remember, other than the "Mythical National Championship", it isn't about putting the best 10 teams in the BCS bowls - it is about rewarding the conference champions, and making money.

Did Missouri get screwed? Yup - by the Orange Bowl taking Kansas, instead of Missouri. Once that happened, no BCS bowl for the Tigers.

ASU got screwed by USC - if they hadn't laid an egg against Stanford, it would be USC-Ohio State in the BCS title game, and ASU-Illinois in the Rose Bowl.

First off, Missouri got SCREWED.

They beat both Kansas AND Illinois in the regular season and beat them resoundingly. Yet, both get in the BCS, while Missouri gets "rewarded" by getting a meaningless Cotton Bowl matchup with Arkansas who is going in to the game with an interim coach and nothing to prove.

Yes, the Chase Daniel - Darren McFadden spotlight is there and the Missouri- Arkansas border rivalry is also there, but Missouri deserved more than this. Yet, in this one I'm not surprised. I was almost certain when they beat Kansas that the Missouri- Oklahoma loser was gonna be on the outside looking in.

As for ASU, it's an outright joke. You got the Fiesta Bowl who has the opportunity to have the home team in the game, and an appealing matchup with Oklahoma, which would have set up other more intriguing BCS matchups than the ones we got.

Tell me ASU- Oklahoma; West Virginia- Virginia Tech and Kansas- Hawaii wouldn't be better matchups than the ones we're stuck with.

As is, USC is going to wipe the floor with Illinois, and Hawai'i is done the second they hit the field. Hawai'i struggled against the worst team in the Pac 10.. Georgia will eat them alive.

The Pac 10 got screwed out of a payday with Washington not beating Hawaii. That dropped pass by the Husky receiver at the end of the Hawaii game knocked ASU out of the BCS and the Pac 10 out of the second BCS payout.
Well that and the old fart traditionalists at the Rose Bowl.

There's no breaking that rule. It's iron clad. If nothing else, Missouri should have gotten in over Kansas. Illinois bumped ASU and Kansas bumped Kansas.

I don't know about others in their thought, but my own issue with tradition isn't because I expected them to take two Pac 10 teams. Looking in at this on a game standpoint, I think Georgia vs. USC would have been a more competitive match up than Illinois- USC.

The Sugar had rights to Georgia, so the Rose Bowl only could have taken them if the Sugar didn't want them. Basically the rule is that if a Bowl loses its anchor team to the National Championship they have the rights of first refusal for any other team in that conference.

Gawd, I HATE this BCS bull crap. Almost every year, it's a fricking joke. A college football playoff would be the most exciting spectacle in sports, and instead we get this pile of dung.

Why is this the ONLY big time sport that cannot properly crown a champion EVERY year?

I'm starting to think it will never happen, the people like John Junker at the Fiesta Bowl and his counterparts in New Orleans, Pasadena, and Miami have too much pull to make their games essentially meaningless. Having a playoff system would do just that.

I listened to Junker this AM on the radio defending himself from pissed off Sun Devils as he threw the Rose Bowl under the bus for ASU not getting a bid. Well, Junker it's you and your brethren's insistence on keeping this archaic system in place so you can sleep better in your stupid yellow jackets that contributed just as much as the Rose Bowl's reluctance to break tradition or ASU's lack of traveling ability to this fiasco.

And some may ask why I'm going to bat for ASU on this considering my ties to Arizona. Well, it's pretty simple really. If it can hapen to ASU or Cal or Oregon then it can happen to Arizona when and if that day comes after we mercifully sh-tcan Mike Stoops.
