The Chicago Bears are adding a new face to the quarterback room with the signing of veteran journeyman Case Keenum to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Keenum has served as a journeyman quarterback throughout his career, which includes stops with the Houston Texans (2023-24, 2014, 2012-13), Buffalo Bills (2022), Cleveland Browns (2020-21), Washington Redskins (2019), Denver Broncos (2018), Minnesota Vikings (2017) and Los Angeles Rams (2015-16, 2014).
Keenum served as a mentor for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud during his first two NFL seasons, and he'll now be another voice for Bears second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, who will also benefit from new head coach Ben Johnson.
There's been plenty of reaction to Chicago signing Keenum to a one-year deal, where Bears fans are excited about a veteran presence joining the QB room while Vikings fans are wondering why their team wasn't able to bring him back to Minnesota.

NFL world reacts to Bears signing Case Keenum
This is solely another QB coach in the room type of move. Exactly what I wanted the Bears to do. This allows T Bag to remain the backup. I have heard Keenum specifically is an awesome presence to have in the room. This move makes a lot of sense https://t.co/aVIIdHznZu

Excellent move. Keenum will be great for not only Caleb, but Bagent as well. https://t.co/Ma3mya4nJW

Absolutely love this move. Not only does Caleb have a coach that knows what he's talking about, but he'll have a veteran to look to as well. https://t.co/IpbzxHzWRk

Great addition.
Tremendous locker room guy from all accounts. https://t.co/E6RylXIJ5N

Fully expect the Bears to have a good season. Already doing so many things better than last off season to support Caleb https://t.co/iBhwDceRSt

Case Keenum should serve as an additional coach as well for the Chicago Bears & Caleb Williams.
Keenum’s career P2S% is 14.9%. Which is above average and a key area for Caleb to work on heading into year 2. https://t.co/DDZpfyhbOq

Wanted Keenum to the Bears in 2018...just a bit early
Should be a good backup, sounding board, vet presence with no ego (ego in the QB room being brought up by Poles recently *cough* Tyson Bagent's dad)
Wonder if Bridgewater is coaching HS, retiring, going back to DET, etc https://t.co/dkjtLqdORY

This is an upgrade in the backup role with a guy who can help be another teacher for Caleb. Gonna miss the little guy but this is a move for a franchise continuing to build around their starting QB. I like the move. https://t.co/WgUh8tpE0W

They should have done something like this a year ago but better late than never. https://t.co/gGOLbEFKYq

I like Tyson Bagent but I always felt like Caleb could use someone with experience to help him out https://t.co/7ikzVWhWNr

Imma be real, I had no idea Case was still an active player. Thought this man was coaching somewhere by now https://t.co/U0gEW3tlW5

An 11-year vet with over 15,000 career yards now brings veteran leadership and experience to a young QB room. https://t.co/5j6BML69Nu

Bagent is still under contract in for this season. Original, 3 years 2.7 million. Wonder what the comp between him and Keenum will look like https://t.co/hsM0OIPYtO
