That was awesome. Those Cards were a tough group and had the confidence of a winner. Exact opposite of McGinnis coached teams.

I still think those road uniforms were the best.

That footage brings back memories...

Man I didn't remember FJ Nunn being so freaking huge.

how about stallings ready to throw down with the refs.....what a firecracker

those uniforms were absolutely awesome.....very tough. Its too bad the cards had to re-invent themselves are were pressured to get a fresh look because those uni's would still look good today!

When the Cards came to Phx, Stallings and his family went to my church. He was a really nice guy and very genuine. His daughter was cute and I think just starting college. His son John, with downs, was so much fun to be around and a real inspiration.

Felt really bad when Gene was fired...but, was super happy for him and his family when he went to Alabama and won the National Championship.

That was a head scratcher. I was convinced that Stallings was a dullard or something by the time he was fired. I had no idea what was going on when he won the nat'l champ.

I remember watching this game. Earlier in the game the Bears William Perry cheapshoted Cards QB Neil Lomax. This video is what followed the next series or so.

Great job finding it. Go Cards!

A trip down memory lane in more ways than one if I'm remembering correctly and not confusing two games:

I was doing the marketing for a NJ automobile megadealer, and we took about 50 - 100 corporate fleet lessees to the Giants - Jets preseason game at Giant Stadium (dinner at Pegasas followed by the game).

The Cardinal - Bear game was on national radio/TV. I'm not sure if I had small portable TV or was listening on the radio (I seem to remember seeing it but it seems unlikely; since Walkmen hadn't been invented yet).

In any case, there was the free-for-all, but almost simultaneously, there was a hurricane-like deluge that drowned Giant Stadium- to such a degree that each aisle looked like a waterfall. The fans scattered like rats. We all wound up drying off and drowning our sorrows at Pegasas.

And the Cardinals-Bears rumble made all the weekly highlight reels.

The most disappointing thing about this clip is that it reminds me again that I missed out on watching the National Swimming and Diving Competition. I still lose sleep over that....

Great clip, thanks for posting it. I also love those uniforms.

It's pretty exciting for a preseason game. I'm glad the running backs played in the preseason in the olden days. :)

Holy smoke there were some names in that clip. Lonnie Young, JT Smith, Niko Noga, Lionel Washington. Wow. Did you see the OJ Anderson haymakers? Those were the days.

Believe it or not I have that entire game on tape, and what's missing from UTUBE is what set the whole thing off. 'Fridge Perry picked up Neil Lomax, dangled him over his head, and then dropped him down on his neck. In a pre-season game.
